Is there a way to manually release the parking break if the disc(drum?) is stuck after pulling and releasing the stick?
I cant tell exactly the position of where and what the E brake even looks like.
Shoot in the right direction?
Thanks as always

I assume you mean that the e brake handle is released, yet the e brake itself hasn't released from the drum. If that is the case it is ceased. Basically you will have to take apart the back brakes to get to the e brake itself, and either replace it with a new unit or disassemble it, clean all the parts and lube everything up. If you know what you are doing it could take you 10 minutes, if not you could easily be looking at a very long afternoon. If you need to drive it you can actually use a hammer to force the brake to release from the drum, just don't hit it too hard.

What you can do to release it is this. Jack it up and release the brakes with the usual way. Make sure the pedal or the handle is all the way LOOSE. Then grab the cable under the car and wiggle them back and fort Then up and down. Pull the hell out of both cables to persuade the cables to release. You wont be able to remove the DRUMS till you release the stuck cables. If that does not work you have to cut the cables as close to the drums as possible. This has to be dun with a WIZZER or SAW ZALL. Makes no difference if you ruin the cables they are shot any way. GOOD LUCK peace tom:bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup

Note if you are an auto the cables can be replaced at your leasure. If a 5 SPEEDER they are a must!!!

I seem to have been able to brake it (GET IT?!!?) loose by pulling and releasing the lever a bunch of times. So much of my car is rusted....
I will keep your posts in mind if I ever end up wanting to replace the lines.
Thanks guys!

most likely the cable is rusted up in the metal sheathing that protects the brake cable at the rear drum, try lubricating the cable at the sheathing by spraying wd40 on the cable at the leading opening of the sheath pull and realease e brake handle a few times to work wd into the sheath

You should make a new thread in this section V6 Tech - Ford Mustang Forum and ask them, but does it smell like you're burning breaks when you're driving? Your switch may just be stuck there should be some rubber around the bottom of the lever move it and look to see if anything looks unusual? Is your E-brake even in the console or is it on the left near the door on the floor? I'm unfamiliar with 94+ cars

Good advice.
Ms.Stang. First welcome the forum. I would move your part of the conversation but then Stustu07 comment would not make sure. Just make a need thread in the v6 forum and those that know more about your model etc will glad to help.
