I am doing a PI swap now what is the difference in these PI intakes Im reading their are 2 different kinds 1 with a aluminum crossover tube and 1 without I have a 98 GT which do I need or does it matter?

There was two different intakes like you stated and the difference is exactly what you stated one has an aluminum crossover other does not. Now the better one is with the aluminum the first ones that was plastic where notorious for cracking and causing leaks where the thermostate housing bolts down. So I suggest for you to get the aluminum crossover.

Ok and also i read Im going to have to drill a hole somewhere in the PI intake for a thermostat?

Not for a thermostat, just for the 2nd coolant sensor the earlier cars have. There's a perfect flat spot next to the thermostat housing for it.
