I'd seen a different camaro concept drawing a few months ago- cant remember where, but was a newspaper clip for an auto show or something- it looked WAY mor like a 69 except the grille was flat/painted on looking, and without the recess, looked kinda silly.

about the same time saw a drawing for a new little Nomad- it looked sweet, and appeared small enough to get great mileage while still carrying the family...time will tell.
The nomad was also based on the solstice platform. Sort of a Mini Cooper fighter.

as usual, ANYTHING that GM kills and then re-births sucks.

Examples:

1. Impala - even with the new V8, still doesnt deserve nameplate
2. Monte Carlo - all 3 times it was "reborn" - sucks (original sucked too)
3. GTO - 400 hp!!, great idea in the beginning - along the line GM fvcked it up by shoving the engine in a Grand Am:sterb: :sterb: :sterb: :sterb:

4. Camaro... it'll suck. you can count on it, its GM

and whats this HHR p.o.s?? (Heritage Hot Rod??) im still trying to figure out what the hell that thing is supposed to resemble from GM's past.... looks more Chryslers past, i think GM liked the PT Cruiser and hit the Zerox button....

Bottom Line: Ford is the only one with a clue on a retro muscle car. Dodge is trying, ill give them that, the Hemi is cool, the Magnum is even OK, but a 4 door Charger????? Must have been the same designer who worked out the GTOs body lines....:sterb: :sterb: :sterb: :sterb:

now the challenger concept is a different story... they build that... ill change my tune....:tongue

Weelll, Bob Lutz is in charge of product, (from chrysler, ie Viper, Prowler, Cruiser, the 1999 Charger [which was awesome!!!]etc.) so some chrysler concepts coming to GM is no surprise.

Their new stuff is pretty da**ed good. Solstice is good, with the SC it should be great, the new G6 GTP is pretty good for a FWD car, and some of the concepts . . .

If GM can make it through the Procter and Gamble designs of the 90s, there's some cool stuff in the pipeline . ..

I think she looks fine.
But as already mentioned, the project for a Chevy Camaro has been scrapped by GM.
It seems that only Dodge stands in the fight of the retro' looking muscle car with the new Challenger, against Ford...
What about Firebird? Do they still make that one?
ok let me ask everyone this ! if ford took and made the mustangs few years ahead front wheel drive would you like it or bash like people do the camaro ?
please anwser honest !

oh forgot main thing, seen it in magazine there saying camaro be back in 2009 with a 327 !
oh and not trying hijack thread . just thought i'd ask, while everyone bashing on gm . i think gm answerd to ford with z06 ! that should keep gm going, even though there laying off 30k people . feel for them, just keeps getting worse !

oh and no there is no more firechicken, i mean firbird lol .

oh i would bash it.. along with some ford designers head for ******* up the mustang and be glad that i bought the last good model. as good as ford did with the new stang i worry about where it will go from here. how do you re-design a car that you have retro'd. is ford going to just re-live the the past all over again with new retros of older cars. i dang sure hope we dont see a new retro'd mustang II in the years to come. with the epa's mandated zero emisssions law scheduled to take effect in 2010 it sounds like the muscle car will surely die along with v8s and any kind of power in a vehicle. gm has done the most extensive designing of new powertrains of any automaker and they have said it is physically impossible with anything bigger than 4 cylinders on a gasoline engine. i think there is a very good possibility with that law coming in 2010, gas prices, the fact that the stang almost got killed a few years back due to low sales, and the economy in general, that the s197 will be the last mustang. i think ford knows it will die and they have decided to let it go out with one hell of a bang. that explains all the new model offerings in the works that have not been available for decades such as the gt500, gt350, and the boss. that is one reason i wanted a new one, i fear the end is near.

and gm didnt answer ford with the Z06. the vette contends with the euros now (hence the new euro front end) gm doesnt compete that car with the mustang or any other american car cept the viper (which i believe is still kicking the vettes a$$) its no comparison. even the base vette is dbl the price of a gt. look in motortrend, car and driver, autoweek, or any other mag like those. you'll see the vette compared to bmw, porshe, ferrari and the like. until gm has a car of equal price and performance to the mustang, they havent answered a dang thing.:sterb:

yeah i understand what your saying about zo6, but fords car is twice the price and really not a bit better. the gt . there one thing though, gm droped the mustangs comptetior in 2002, and they had the performance then ! i just thing it's sad the mustang gt now only up to 300hp . when way back in the day they had push rod v8 289 pushing 271 hp . gm has little more offer on the power, but the cars they choose put them in suck !

i think ford imo should take 4.6 and stroke it to 302 ! if they done that right from factory it would cost much more than what it does now for them build motor . i mean ford has no competitor for the mustang, why not make it more of a bad a$$ ride . but i can see it from there point view to, why not make it as cheap as possible, when you know it's going to sell . i guess gm useing regular vette for the competitor, well it and the gto . see thats why i say ford should stroke the 4.6 from factory if gm going to use vette motor in gto ! i bet if ford done that, and maybe threw couple grand price on the stang it wouldn't hurt sells . the mustang looks a million times better, than the gto !

now dodge on the other hand, i think where i seen they had step up game little bye giving it more power to the viper . i think if anyone comes back with a competitor for the stang it will be dodge . i'm sorry i loike ford, but if they come out with that challenger i saw pics on, i'll have to have one ! not only the look, it has muscle . only reason i said anything about mustang going fwd i had to see a reaction lol . i just about come to the conclusion gm has steped back out the low buck performance cars like mustang, there more for gas milage now .
yeah looks like electic cars going lead way, which will suck, guess have go buy another bike then :) ! oh bye the way nice looking car there GTNOS !

making the Mustang a zero emission car isn't that difficult, there's already a plan in place.

FTM, the new 3.5L v6 is 300hp capable, hybrid capable, and is SULEV, with no-lev a possibility.

I wouldn't worry about the future.

V6?? Hybrid?? SULEV with no-lev possibility?? will it get 50 mile per gallon too?? no V8?? it'll pass a gas station?? oooohhh god nooo!!!! weep... weep... weep... they're gonna make another Mustang II!!! :sadcry: :sadcry: :sadcry: :sadcry:

why ford??!! why the mustang??!! take the $150,000 GT instead... no one can afford it anyway!! i just dont understand .... :sadcry: :sadcry: :sadcry: :sadcry:

damn EPA!!:madas:

There will be a V8 mustang, that will pass SULEV. It's NOT THAT DIFFICULT. If nothing else, it'll probably be a flex-fuel vehicle like the Stallion, as Ethanol has lower emissions than gasoline.

but there will probably be other options, as well.

P.S. If it weren't for the EPA, there'd be NO 4.6L 300 hp car. the EPA pushed Ford into fuel injection, and the Mustang has been tops ever since.

the 5.0L was down by 50 cubic inches, the 4.6L by more than 1L to the 350 Chevy. WITH fuel injection, and the EPA mandates, the 5.0L was FASTER, LIGHTER and got better GAS MILEAGE.

the Corvette until 2003 got BETTER gas mileage than a HONDA ACCORD.

The EPA doesn't kill performance. Better efficiency = Better PERFORMANCE.

All Hot Rodding is, is making MORE power out of any given engine, All that is, is Better Effiency.

The bottom one was a MT mock up.
