Potential motor swap.

Sounds like a good swap (Especially for free) assuming the engines in good shape id go for it make it a sleeper and sell the v6 engine to help fund the swap just do some research to see what else needs to be upgraded like fuel system, rearend, entire exhaust and many other things.. Or consider selling engine and ur v6 mustang to buy a cobra

Been doing alot of reading and it seems that it shouldn't be "hard" but it's hard to know what all I will really need. Not sure what computer will work best or what tranny to use. Then I'm sure that will require a custom drive shaft. I mean it's a free motor and I would rather use it than just part it out or sell it. Its everything from the intake to the oil pan and flywheel. Has all the underhood wiring, so I am thinking it shouldn't be overly hard. Just need the details to make it work. Either way I need to get the motor home, it's only got I believe 60k miles on it but need to confirm that.

I think the engine should fit in without much of an issue. Does it include the computer? You will need that. I'm not sure if the bellhousing on a 05-10 trans will match up or not. Just so you know though swapping a motor in from an older car is actually illegal in many states

From what I've read I will either be able to use a 05-09 GT computer or a GT500 computer. More than likely the GT500, since it used a 4v 5.4 it should work.
I'm not worried about the legality, I don't think it is in Ohio anyways, there's no emission testing where I live so I think i'm good.
I will have to find a tranny that fits, be nice if the new 6speed auto fit, but i'm sure there's plenty of 6 speeds out there that will fit. Was assuming i'll need a custom drive shaft anyways. And of course a 8.8 rear end. And supporting suspension and brakes. Once I get the motor to my house i'm going to do more in depth research and get a parts list going.
