My brother, those covers are the bomb!!! They look absolutely terrific. I decided I was going to the same thing when I saw an advertisement for a plenum cover, where a customer had a black one (like yours) and painted the ribs and GT in red (like yours), he also had the red power coated covers...damn they look good. Thank you for posting that followup thread, I am giving the guy a call right away.:laughlitt
Yup! That may have been mine. I actually painted the covers. I was in line a little sooner but had to back down the list a bit due to some family issues. Here is a pic.

I was thinking of doing this as well, but now have second thoughts. IMO, in scramblers pics, you kind of lose the effect or sight of them because they blend in with the color of his car. Again, this is my opinion. I think I may have to go chrome or silver.
I totally agree with you based on the pictures. However, in person it is not as pronounced, although that's the last of the red going in there. I have Spectre steel braided hoses and blue Magna-Clamps coming in the mail and along with the rest of the black hoses, black/red Plenum cover, black TBS, black CAI, and black hood struts, it mixes very well and the covers jump out at you when looking at the bay in person. I think any theme in these bays look awesome and sure beats the hell out of stock....

Nice job there. I kept looking at the 1st pic and finally figured out what was different. The oil fill has been relocated from last year.
Thanks Sonny. Actually the oil fill is in the same place, I just took off the neck. I don't like the chimney look coming off the covers. :winks

Hey Darth-
I read your post earlier today and I was curious myself. I couldn't find them listed anywhere on their site so I called tech support. The colors that you have listed; Chrome-like,Blue,Black Wrinkle, and Silver are all they offer and don't expect that to change soon. The cost for the covers is $270.00 plus a core charge and shipping. The guy I talked to didn't know what the core charge amount was however. A bit pricey I think.

Any one see a picture of the blue covers...I have only seen the chrome ones. Wondering what shade of blue they went with. Anything like mine?

It would be nice if they had color picks of the valve covers posted in the parts book. Before I lay them kind of Franklins down I'd be doing something to make the car run or handle better :) .What nice though is that they are avalible.

How hard are those covers to remove? I'm very familiar with the old pushrod valve cover, but haven't wrenched on the sohc before. Are there gaskets that need replaced? I'm thinking custom paint job instead of powder. I'm working on a plenum cover as well, so maybe paint to match.

I found it rather easy to get them off and on again. The gasket is a hard rubber that can be inserted into the cover and it stays in place when installing the covers. Too about 20 minutes to get both off and they went on in less than 10 minutes. Once you see what it takes the jobs goes pretty quick.

Do the bolts need to be torqued to spec. when the covers are put back on? What woud that be? I tend to snap bolt heads off! :kooky:
Not sure about the torque spec, but each bolt has a rubber gromet attached to it. Also, the bolts bottom out. I just alternated from top to bottom and side to side and tightened them until it just started squeezing the gromet. As long as it's tight, these gaskets shouldn't leak based on the way they are designed. Not like the old ones which were flat.
