I have a 1994 GT 5.0 H.O. Recently it has started to lose power at around 3500 rpms. It acts like it wants to keep pulling hard like it once did, but it just won't. It idles great and pulls great until the 3500 mark. So, what should I look for or try? I've read some suggestions about the fuel injector cleaner but haven't tried it yet. This problem kinda just started all of a sudden. I have changed the fuel filter, but that didn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you already changed the fuel filter then I would try the injector cleaner and see if it helps. I would also take a look at the air filter and throttle body as this sounds like either a fuel or air delivery problem to me. If neither of the two works then I would start looking at ignition, so check the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor and make sure everything checks out fine there. This should at least get you started on diagnosing and fixing the problem I hope, keep us posted.

It has to be either fuel or ignition. When it's a rev problem, usually that's in the timing.

Thanks everyone. I have a new 70mm throttle body on my car now and was on there before the problem started and I also have a new air cleaner as well. I have a tune-up kit on the way with new cap, rotor, plugs and wires. I noticed yesterday, when it was kinda rainy, that when I went to drive it the problem was much worse so I am guessing that it may be an ignition problem. That's where I'm going at this point. I also have the fuel additive to put in too. I will keep you posted. Thanks again everyone.

Ok guys, here's some new information on my power loss problem. I was driving my car after putting in some injector cleaner and I got my check engine light to come on and stay on. I have an older scanner and checked the codes. The codes came up as 172 and 176 which one is lean on bank one and the other is lean on bank two. Now, what would cause that? I have a brand new idle air control valve on it so I can pretty much rule that one out. Would a bad throttle possitioning sensor do that? I'm at a loss here. Any ideas would be awsome. Thanks again.

Hurray, figured it out!!!!

Well, thanks for the help everyone. I figured out the problem. The wires in my MAF sensor were dirty. It wasn't picking up the air flow so the computer was leaning it out to compensate. So, if anyone else has that problem, try that first. I used some electronic spray cleaner to clean them. It dries fast and doesn't leave any resedue. Again, thanks a million to everyone that tried to help. Now on to bigger and better things, time to put in the 3.55 gears, new racing clutch and sub frame connectors! FINALLY!!!!!!! Then comes the paint job. That's gonna be fun......not!!!!
