How exactly are you shifting? Are you getting the clutch pedal to the floor before you are trying to ram it in another gear? Do you have the stock shifter? Clutch adjusted correctly?

Don't mean to sound like a d!ck but can you drive a stick in that condition?

Do you mean shifting without the clutch? That is what we always called powershifting. A manual transmission has syncronizers (which I'm sure you know) what you might not know is that the clutch needs to be fully disengaged and the input shaft spin freely for the syncros to work properly. If not the syncronizer fights the torque load and does not work properly. Operating a transmission without the clutch can break the syncronizer or blocker rings. When this happens you get gear grindage.

the way we refer to powershifting in my area is shifting very quickly YES with the cluth fully depressed ive been driving stick since i was 11 years old iknow how to drive one not to sound like a **** but if driving normally around town WITH THE CLUTCH n nothing is grinding then im pretty sure everything is fully adjusted and the syncros are working just fine. but when im racing somebody and shifting very quickly 2nd and 3rd grind all the time i was wondering if anybody else has had the same problem dont need anybody telling me how i should be shifting like i said ive been driving stick long enough now

i actually think my problem can easly be solved with a new billet aluminum clutch quadrant with a bigger radius on it because the stock one is plastic it tends to bend alot on harder shifts like what im describing and the bigger radius will make sure it releases from the fly wheel

Stock shifter? You could have 100 years' experience driving m/t and still grind gears if you have that pos.

Yes, could be the stock quadrant as well; the stock plastic one is known to fatigue over time and flex under hard conditions, thus not fully disengaging the clutch.

How old is your clutch? Has the car always done this or is it a kinda new thing?

And I always thought powershifting was when you kept the gas pedal floored in between shifts.....

its a stock shifter stock clutch the only thing i changed is the handle so im not stretchin 4 third n fifth. the guy i bought the car from had the clutch recently replaced when i bought it a little over a year ago id say clutch has 10-15k on it never really beaten on the ocasional redlight race that it. the problem started back in july that im having. ive read through quite a bit of other posts of people having the similar problem with peolpe saying anythin from cable to sycnros being messed up. now my question is if it is the syncros wouldnt it grind all the time not just when powershifting or speedshifting whatever anybody wants to call it???? the way im talkin is clutch in hand comes down as fast as u can move it to clear that up for people.or maybe the clutch needs to be adjusted???? new quadrant???? like when your shifting hard in a race the the plastic one bends n the cable isnt pulled all the way so its not releasing competely from the fly wheel.

Yeah I suppose that since the clutch is relatively new, an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster could be a likely solution. Get a short throw shifter while you're at it, they really do make a day and night difference.

And yes it could be the synchros; they usually seem to give problems at first during hard use and as time goes on they make shifting difficult all the time. But since the only solution for that is a new or rebuilt trans I suggest ruling out the cheaper and easier things first.

And since it's going to be a nice little afternoon project anyway, installing the quadrant and adjuster, it probably won't hurt to replace the trans fluid at the same time. For the price of 3 qts. of fluid and the 30 minutes of your day it will take to do it you might as well.
