Hello everyone,
I'm trying to get my hands on a '71 Fastback. I asked my neighbor today and she said she wants between 5500-7500...it seems slightly reasonable, but the problem is that the engine is completely frozen, she wont even turn over. The body, however, is in EXCELLENT condition. I mean there is very minimal rust on it, it is very sound. So, the point of this thread is to ask all of you what you guys think is a reasonable price for her.

wut kinda motor is it? is it just a 302? is it a mach1 with a 351 W or C? or we talking 428 CJ or SCJ :]]]

is it a 4spd on the floor? or auto?

The motor I'd be working with is a 351 Cleveland and it is an Automatic. I hope that helps you help me man

closer to 5000 I would think is reasonable for a rust free canvas so to speak.

For that price it should run and drive and have no rust i'd talk them down.

That's what I was thinking...i figured that the engine alone would cost me an arm and a leg so I wanted to get it for a bit less so I could afford to restore it.

If you wind up getting the car, dont $hit can the motor. Cleveland motors (even 2-bolt mains) have a value if the block has not been bored previously and it contains no cracks.

Let us know how you make out in getting the car.

You have to ask yourself how will you use the car and how much money you got to spend total.A weekend car or less rebuild the engine it has.For a daily driver i would look in to a 5.0 swap get efi and a overdrive trans can make it easier on gas.
