A year or more ago I bought the shelby grille where the fog lights are located closer to the center of the grille. That required wire harness extensions for the fog lights, which came with the grille. In the year plus that I've had the grille I've replaced the harness extensions. After about 6 months they begin to short out at the connection where the extension connects to the factory harness. I even used electrical tape on the second set to seal them. The lights go on and off as vibration shakes the plug. I even tried retaping the plugs but can't get them to consistently make contact.

I love the grille and really want to use it. But for now I've taken it out and gone back to the stock grille. I thought about splicing the wire extension and stock harness together rather than relying on the plug. But I only want to do that if it's my last option.

I don't see any issue with the plug. But clearly there is one. I've even made sure the plugs are solidly clipped together so I know it can't be that.

This isn't that hard to do so I believe it isn't anything I'm doing. Anyone have suggest

Give the contacts a good coat of dielectric grease when you assemble it. That with keep moisture out and prevent the contacts from corroding which is probably the issue.

Had the same problem with my 07. I just cut the stock plug's back and extened the wire's myself. If your not comfortable with that roc auto has the stock socket with the wire's. There 17 dollar's each. A little expensive but you'll be done with the problem.
