Hi everyone
I bought my 06 mustang about a month ago and I really love it, but I have some problems with it .
First it was the thermostat housing.I ordered a new one but as I'm living in Armenia I should wait a little bit long for my new housing.
The second problem I have is with the engine oil pressure gauge . When I turn the key to the third level the gauge goes a little to the center and then drops to lowest level, but when I start the car It fixes itself and goes a little higher than the middle. As i checked the oil from the engine it's somewhere between minimum and maximum. So what's this problem ? any one can help ?

As long as the oil level is at least at the bottom marker on the dipstick that would not be a cause of oil pressure fluxuation. It is not uncommon on a used engine (you didn't mention how may miles it has) to have fluxuating oil pressure. it would be normal for oil pressure to go up some as the engine RPM's increase. As engines get older the clearances beteween bearing surfaces increase and that can cause oil pressure to be lower at lower RPM's. the key is that the oil pressure is at least in the proper oil pressure range while the engine is running. You can take your car to a mechanic who can put an guage to message in pounds your oil pressure to see it it's in an acceptable range.

Now, that's not to say you don't have some other issues, but you should always check the obvious first in my opinion.

When you turn the key and dont start the engine there's No Oil Pessure to Guage as the Motor's Not Running, that's why you get that reading from your Oil Pressure Guage. Once started the engines Oil Pressure now has a reading to send to the Oil Pressure Guage. That's how it's suppos-to be and there's nothing wrong with it.
You cant have Oil Pressure if your Engine is'nt running. Hope this Helped:bigthumbsup

Here you go

I have had the exact same problem too! My housing blew up so I heard from ford that it's a very common problem with our year. And as for the gauge problem, it's often due to a bad gauge cluster as well, I have had similarproblems such as my speedo or tach or even the temp gauge reading way off or none at all. Hope this helps you out!

thanks everyone, you helped me alot.
@benzo How did you solve your problems ?
you know my gauge problem appeared after my battery almost went out, it was like everytime I wanted to start my car everything was restarting . and by the way sometimes my fuel gauge acts strangely . Is it common too ?
