I have a lot of mods on my car under warranty. I haven't had the need to test it yet.
with my warranty i can go from the cats back to the tips headers would void my warranty if that helps you
Most dealers will give you grief for installing headers.
Yes I was told by the Ford Regional Manager that they will void the warrenty. ANYTHING that changes the engineering specifications can be used to void a warrenty if they can establish it lead to or caused the failure. Been down that road and search my posts for more detail or send me a PM.
My dealer was cool with it,they even offered to install them. Imagine that.

Stick with them! When I brought my car in for some engine warranty work, they saw the headers and laughed.

Yea Don Chalmers Ford is one of the best.I have bought 6 vehicles from them , that probably has something to do with it. They are mustang lovers there and they put S/C on a lot and other mods. I show them mine and they get excited. They keep tring to get me to put this shiny whipple on. I must say it is tempting.

I know that feeling. Someone at the speed shop keeps trying to get me to do that

Its painful seeing that shiny polished whipple,if only it was`nt so much money. :happyhapp
Two words: Moss-Magnusson.

Look it up- it's a federal consumer protection law.
I am quite familar with The Moss Magnusun Act. Some dealers just do not care, and have big attorneys which can be discouraging to some. If the mod in some way hurts the vehicle, than the warranty will not cover it . You have the right to put any mod on your car. You do not want to void your warranty so , maybe you have to play by your dealers rules to an extent.

Yea I know what you mean. Thats a big chunk of change. Even the black one.
I recently spoke to the Ford extended warranty folks about that very matter for my daughter (2004 Mustang GT). He said they won't cover the headers or any problem they proximally cause. Otherwise, it's not supposed to be an issue.
You should speak to the service advisor at the dealership you frequent. See what they think.
The primary reason I referred to Moss-Magnuson was because it puts the burden of proof on the party seeking to avoid liability vs. the consumer.

That having been said, I appreciate that nobody wants to "buy" a lawsuit if you can avoid it, either by talking to the dealer first or not doing the mod that might cause "issues".

Wrong......you dont have a right to put any mod on your car, most modifications are illegal anyways (emissions).....especially long tube headers!!
It all depends on your POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR SERVICE MANAGER. HE CAN HELP YOU OR "RAPE YOUR WALLET" I WAS TOLD ANYTHING THAT "CHANGES THE ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS CAN / WILL BE USED TO VOID YOUR MOTOR WARRANTY. I started raising a fuss over mine and they took 7 weeks to fix a valve that dropped in the #8 cylinder. It was paid for under warranty but the shop "got behind schedule" and my car collected dust in their bay.

RECOMMEND YOU MAKE SURE YOU WORK IT OUT WITH THE DEALERSHIP OWNER PRIOR TO DOING IT. ALTIMATELY IT IS UP TO FORD BUT HE CAN "GUIDE" THE SHOP MANAGER IN WAYS TO KEEPING YOU HAPPY AND SELLING MORE CARS.

THEY REALLY DON"T LIKE BAD WORDS ABOUT THEM FLOATING AROUND TO YOU BUDDIES. WORD OF MOUTH CAN KILL A BUSINESS. THUS WHY I'll DRIVE SOMEONE 100 MILES TO ANOTHER DEALSHIP TO BY THEIR NEXT CAR FROM ANYONE BUT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP....
My BBK Shorty tuned headers and Steeda Underpully set is still sitting in the garage here at the house. I had a fight on my hands becuase of the CAI and Helix TB spacer. "IT CHANGES THE DYNAMICS OF THE ENGINEERING OF THE AIR INTAKE AND MADE IT RUN TOO RICH" --BS but they tried. I WENT WITH A friends brother who is a LOCAL Attorney. Sent an "Intent" letter (4aBeer) and within 3 days my car was back.

That is all you have to do,they like to scare you with their lawyers but as soon as YOUR lawyer send them a letter they will fix your car.The law is very clear, whatever part you change is not covered, but the remainer of the vehicle is.They have to PROVE that whatever mod you did to the car is the culprit, not the other way around. That being said is nice to be nice, but dont allow them to raild road you.:nogrinner
That was my point about Moss-Magnuson.
