Racing with traction control on or off

When you guys are racing do you leave traction control on or off. I always leave both on my tires spin through the gears like crazy.

off, i would prefer not to have my car auto applying brakes and cutting power, when it slips a little.
Off w/ hill assist on as it helps for longer gears, use 93 octane gas w/octane
booster.
The quick answer is Get better tires, but it sounds dismissive. The traction control can pull power and apply brakes, particularly on manual powershifts, so leave it off. Save up and get a set of DOT drag tires to put on some used stock wheels you pick up. Then the problem will nearly disappear, and drag runs will become repeatable (not to mention quicker).

Sorry, but that's the real solution.
You should race with it off.
I get almost a full second of wheelspin between 1st and 2nd...and that's with TC on. Off is about the same, heh. I blame my gears...

Sounds like 4.56 gears
I always race with it off. I mean all the way off, the hold-the-brake-for-5-seconds method.

Heh 4.10s actually, so close! That and skinny stock tires, tune, and driveshaft. It's kinda silly and god forbid it hits a gear when turning, lol.
I take it off in the 04GT it slows you down. In less I race my friends hondas. Then I leave it on with all accessories running with OD on so I can only win by 5cars

Always race with advancetrac off. It takes some time to get use you how your car slides and rotates mid corner but you catch on fast. Just be sure not to let off throttle when you start sliding or else it becomes snap oversteer. I have experience :)
I disable traction control but I leave ESC on nowadays.

Just don't have the time and money to gamble on my skills exceeding the electronics when I'm really getting it.

Its not as risky as you think. I've taken my car to the track and it is very predictable. Unless you completely floor it mid corner, you won't lose it.

I am talking from experience nor uncertainty, my friend.
I like to occasionally drive at the very limit. Unfortunately, because I only can do so occasionally, that means when I try sometimes I go over it. I haven't wrecked, but I'd say the few times I almost have gone over it's limits with ESC disabled, lesser drivers would have been sharing pictures of their car wrapped around a tree, bounced off a ditch, or similar. At least, I leave ESC on when I'm away from tracks and empty parking lots. :smoke:

Yea esc for me to. At the track almost lost the ass end from a launch too high in rpms and almost on a turn... After those two things mycar rarely sees everything off. I can carry a slide perfectly around acorner whenit is wet out
Depends what kind of race.

AutoX I turn everything off.

Road course I leave it in sport mode (I don't feel like owning a $24k hunk of metal that doesn't run).

As for the illegal stuff, no point in either or doing it at all and losing ones license when you can have more fun on a track without consequences.
Alright to summarize leave one one off or both off for street race i have good tires nitto nt555
Sorry, (1) I read the original post as asking about racing, not street racing, and (2) you were complaining about wheelspin, but say you have good tires.

If you really want to hook up while street racing, get a pair of drag radials.....

I still have never seen nor felt my TC intervene. Last weekend I took a buddy out after swapping back to my all season pirellis (235 opposed to 255 summer tires) and I can spin like crazy in 1st and 2nd without a hint of TC.
The advancetrack does work as I've felt it cut power when U-turning. When the front tires on our accord were bald the TC would light up almost every time you took off.

Has anyone ever seen the TC light flash?
