Ok, I was hoping I could figure this out on my own but it's just not working. My car is a 95 mustang gt convertible. No mods, completely stock other than a flowmaster exhaust. Here's my problem:

Problem: Cooling fan will not kick on automatically and car is getting seriously close to overheating.

Things tried already: Replaced CCRM, coolant temp sensor, checked all fuses under hood and dash, checked circuit breaker between CCRM and fan plug...

Symptoms: Car gets up to temperature and fan does not come on automatically. If I turn the AC on, within about 20 secs the fan will come on but only for about 10 secs and then shuts off again. Even if the temp is between the "A" and "L" in normal, it still only stays on for like 10 secs. If I pull the temp sensor (not the one for the gauge), the fan defaults on all the time.

Does this problem have anything to do with the gauge temp sensor (one to the right of the distributor)? Is this simply a bad connection at the cooling fan temp sensor (the one to the left of the distributor)? How come the fan only stays on for like 10 secs instead of cooling the engine all the way down?
Please help... I've read every forum post on this site and many other and cant seem to get this figured out. Thanks.

I ran into the same problem with my 95 gt. The fan is supposed to have a low and a high speed setting and neither of them came on. i tried everything you did and i eventually just wired my own switch to the fan so i told it when to turn on. If you find the correct way to fix it please let me know.

Did you say if you pull the wire for the fan temp sensor the fans default on.
ck the temp with a thermometer to verify what you are seeing on the gauge is correct.
If it is really getting hot and you believe the gauge replace the sender for the fan.

Fixed the problem!! After about a week of messing with this, I was doing some electrical probing on the harness side of the CCRM and realized that the power terminal on the harness (#3 or #4 I believe), had actually pulled back into the plastic and was not making clean contact with the CCRM itself. So I pushed on each wire on the back of the harness until all the terminals were even, plugged it back and everything works. Fan cycles on when temp gauge reaches the middle of the "M" in normal, and cools the engine down until it hits the "R" in normal. Also, when I put the AC on, the fan should come on IMMEDIATELY. It wasn't before, which lead me to believe there was a shorted connection somewhere..

Solution: Check all your connections between the temp sensor and its plug, the CCRM and its harness, the breaker and power cable for the cooling fan, and the other side of the breaker with the cooling fan itself. If anyone ever needs help with this sort of problem, email me at [email protected] and I can go through what I did. Later!
