When I put gas in my car (2012 gt) I get back in it, turn it on, and my radio input has been changed to FM. I NEVER listen to fm. I only listen to Internet radio or Siriusxm.

I've only observed this occur when I get gas. Does this happen to anyone else or is my car crazy? I found nothing about this online or in the manual.

Is it possible that you lose the sat signal when you pull in under the overhang of the gas station? If that happens maybe it just switches over to FM automatically.

Hmmm that's odd. Maybe the fuel gauge wires are somehow crossed with the radio controls? ;)

This really is strange.

LOL, I think it's more along the lines of car being off for a very short period rather than the gas.

Sometimes when I turn the car off briefly SYNC doesn't seem to be happy with my iPod and my FM comes on too (which I never have on either). FM must be the default mode when SYNC has a headache.

I'm not sure why but SYNC seems occassionally to have trouble recognizing the iPod again unless I unplug the USB then plug it back in. Usually it's happy again immediately, once I had to fool with it a couple of times.

This doesn't happen often, the iPod usually picks up right where it left off when I turned the car off. It just seems to be something about really short stops the throws it a bit.

You're right. I just tested it. It happens if I leave my iphone plugged in, turn the car off, then turn the car back on with the phone still plugged in.

Bug.

When streaming music through Bluetooth audio, SYNC has no way of knowing where a song/track stopped before the vehicle was shut off. Therefore SYNC defaults back to FM radio.

MLMike25 - Can you confirm that this happens when listening to Sirius Radio as well?

When you say "streaming music through bluetooth" do you mean playing songs that are on the phone.....or any kind of streaming?

Because I use Pandora, Spotifiy, and BeyondPod (Podcasts) all the time via bluetooth. If I turn the car off and then back on, the sync system will still be set to "Media" and "Bluetooth Device". In some cases (BeyondPod for sure), the podcast will start playing from where it left off (This could be a function of the phone). It never defaults back to anything but what I had it set on before.

It doesn't happen when listening to Sirius.

It is a PITA though.

Playing any kind of streaming. I use Audiogalaxy to stream music from my PC and Slacker.

Best way to duplicate the issue is to:

-turn your car on, connect the phone via bluetooth audio
-make sure the phone is plugged in via usb (for charging purposes)
-leave the phone plugged in and connected and turn the car off
-turn the car back on and it should be defaulted to the FM input

Will I ever have the option to auto-bluetooth connect? Seems like this used to happen and it annoyed people. I actually WANT this option b/c I don't listen to FM or CD's.

This also happens to me, I normally listen to a USB stick and it occasionally switches to FM when I start the car. I've just accepted it as a quirk of the system.
Yup, mine does the exact same thing. My USB stick always just sits in my car ready to go. Almost never take it out. Every now and then it'll jump over to FM, but for the most part it does stay on USB.

A little annoying, and I would like it to stop, but nothing that really changes how I feel about the car.

As I mentioned earlier, my issue happens when I am playing my iPod and it's happened enough that I can detect the exact pattern now.

If I make a short trip where the car is turned off a short period ONCE and get back in the car the USB resumes just fine. However if I have an additional errand the third time I start the car the USB won't come back on and the car defaults to broadcast radio (horrors).

I have a whale of time getting the USB to come back on when this happens, sometimes plugging and unplugging the USB a few times works but lately it's been more and more stubborn. The unit refuses to recognize the Listen and Phone buttons once it has decided it wants FM and I'm stuck with no radio (or more precisely only radio which to me is the same thing, LOL) at all until the car sits overnight. Then the next day it's fine again all by itself.

I was going to try the reset instructions Jaclyn gave us yesterday I lost my USB but it wasn't until it happened that I remembered I can't use the buttons after I get locked out. I'll have to try the reset before I'm stuck.

From time to time a very similar thing happens to me. I used to turn off the ignition and open the door, (to really turn off the radio) wait a a minute and restart and all would be normal. Then on one occasion I just kept driving and after a few minutes the phone was connected and the usb worked and everything worked as before. It seemed to take as much time as a rebbot on a PC.

I also used a micro sd card with a usb adapter for my tunes and this worked great most of the time. On hot days though, (above 20c in Canada:)) it gave problems and wouldn't work right. Another usb stick and this issue has never occured again.

I'm referring to any kind of streaming. Music from the phone, Pandora, itunes on the iPhone, etc. Your tracks resuming automatically may be a feature of the device you're using. What type of phone do you have?

Please private message me your VIN. I'd like to look into this further.

Sorry to revive an old post, but I believe I discovered a work around. What I have noticed is that when you start the car or provide accessory power, it takes a few moments for Sync to discover its peripheral connections such as USB and bluetooth audio. So if the radio is on immediately when you start the car, it won't see the other connections. However, if you are using USB or BT, try to remember to turn off the radio before turning off the car or power. When you start the car up the next time, Sync will have enough time to find your external devices before you turn on the radio again and will be able to retain your previous input selection. I have been trying this out for the past 4 weeks or so and I would say it works consistently enough to have others try it out. I normally use Pandora through my phone, so this extra step makes things a lot less frustrating and results in fewer steps to get back to BT audio.
