Re-manufactured 302 - help needed

402 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Cobrajet67
I recently acquired a Ford remanufactured 302 - it was done in 2005 - I have a picture of what appears to be a data plate that was stamped 0nto the rear driver side of the block. I include a picture - if anyone can decode this please let me know - trying to figure out what year the engine is. Thanks in advance -

The data plate appears to be as follows:
F3ZZ 6V012 BBRM
- - - - -
F = 1990s
3 = model year ==> this was an engine made for the 1993 model year
ZZ = Ford Engineering Department, Mustang
- - -
The 6V012 is stumping me for now, I believe those to be engine specifications (bore x stroke?)
- - - -
BBRM is I believe nonmenclature for which plant / location the engine was manufactured.

You definitely have an engine that was remanufacture by Ford (this is very good) for your 1993 Mustang, It was remanufactured in 2005 based on the date.

6V012 is the base part # for a remanufactured Ford engine. I believe a long block specifically. BBRM is the version/revision code.

Thanks - once in a while I get lucky - will be putting it in my 1965 Coupe. It has a 4 barrel Weind manafold on it. Any thoughts or concerns when installing/using ? I will be using a 4 barrel 650 carb - headers - later will go to Holley Snyper electronic carb.
Thanks

Forget the holley Sniper or any other TB fuel injection unit...... the carb will provide every bit of power (hp/TQ) the efi will and cost about 1/2!

What kind of Weiand manifold? A Stealth dual plane perhaps or a single plane?
The stock cam in a 1993 Mustang is adequate but nothing to really get excited about. I would upgrade to a mild Ford Performance street cam. A 550-600cfm is all you need especially with a stock cam. A 650 will really only be needed or useful with a high RPM cam. You may experience some low RPM bogging with too big of a carb.

If you already have the carb you're ok, but I would look at the 450 cfm holley 4v carb as for street ops the response will be excellent especially through the mid-range!

Did I mention its a roller cam engine with roller rockers ?
Yes the carb (Snyper) was included with the deal - but I have others - it has a Wieand Stealth manifold.
Thanks Guys !

All Mustang 5.0s after 1986 were roller engines and 1985 carbed was also roller. Many non HO 5.0s found in other vehicles were non roller engines thru 1989. I think after that they all became roller engines.
The Stealth is a perfect manifold for the street.
