Pick up the new car Wednesday and I have been looking into some mods to do right away. I know most of you have already been down this road and can offer some valuable insight. Here's what I wanted to do. Any help is much appreciated. The car came from a 67 year old guy from California black automatic gt with a Roush rear spoiler and front fascia.

Cold air intake- Roush brand without any needed tune. Or jlt with a tune needed. The people at Roush say most of the increase others claim is unwarranted and at rpm range you are never really at anyways. Roush claims that there's will give all the increase over stock I could want and will be real happy with it. I say Roush because it has already a Roush spoiler and front fascia so I wanted to keep it in the same line if it makes sense.

Exhaust- it's stock now with rolled tips. I want more sound and increased performance but could do without the drone. I drove a 2007 with just straight pipes and it was ok for sound but ridiculous drone at 65. I know I can be as aggressive and remove the cats and add a tune to stop the check engine light and add X pipe and exit with straight back pypes bombs that have a little reasonator built in. Or leave the cats and stock h pipe and do a Roush muffler set up or similar flow master or borla, pypes axle back 4 in tips.

Gears- I wanted I thought to do 4.10 but after talking with most people they say no higher than 3.73 maybe 3.90. Later if I supercharge 4.10 would be ridiculous and only spin the tires.

Tuner- bama tuner? If I go with an aggressive cold air intake I will need a tuner or aggressive exhaust. Is a tuner the right way to go and which one.

Under drive pulley- after talking with Roush it is an ok mod will help but probably only worth about 5hp and if I supercharge later than don't bother know. Do they work and is it worth the install.

Rear window louvers- I notice the Roush ones have three little bolt markings which I like. Is there a big difference between the Roush originals or the American muscle kind.

Hid headlights- is there a cost effective way to upgrade the headlights and fog lights or just the bulb upgrade like zxe bulbs.

Stripes- wanted to do the fender hockey stripe like on the newer Roush cars. This car being black should I go with silver, metallic silver, dark silver or white and do I put any stripes on the hood and trunk and roof. I know this is a total personal choice. I will be removing the gt tags and replacing with Roush fender tags and rear deck lid.

Shifter- it's an automatic and was looking on American muscle website and they had the tci ratchet shifter video. Looks pretty cool but when I called them one guy said no go with b&m that these were not good feedback and then I called again and another person said they were reviewed positively.

Oil changes- should I start to run fully synthetic oil and which brand is best for these cars and viscosity.

Anyways this is a start of where I would like to go with this 40,000 mile black automatic gt.

i always use synthetic, id say just to be safe go synthetic and always change it 1000 miles or so before it says you should, because you never wanna risk messing up a badass car with something as dumb as oil lol i got the halo lights and there friggen awesome, and people dont hate me because i dont blind them at night, plus not many people have halos so its just something different. Im probably going the get a single racing stripe down the middle and a roush stripe on the side of my car soon (you can look at my post from like a day or 2 ago). Grabber blue on black, its gunna be suweeet. I hear tuners are great on autos, but then again im not really a engine guy, my cars hella fast enough for me. The 4.10 gears are pretty awesome, but i'd think it would only be cool on a manual transmission, but im not an engine-junkie so i wouldnt know lol i really only care about making it look better and putting on performance parts if it only makes it more fun to drive (e.g. gears, tuner, exhaust, etc). Anyways, thats my 2 cents. I got loads of fun things to do with these cars, my main probly is lacking of funds :hihi:
I use a Bama SCT tuner and am happy with it. 4.10's if you want to really wake the stang up, 3.73's otherwise.

Hey SPK007. I have a 06 auto gt and have done most of the mods you are deciding on. The quick ones first. Use full synthetic (I use royal purple). It will help your engine run smoother. It did for me. As for underdrive pulleys, if you dont use the a/c that much, I get it. I live in south texas and need all the a/c I can get. Hid, haven't considered them. Thats up to you. I wouldn't try the ratcheting shifter. Seems like more trouble than good. With the Bama tune, you'll have that auto shifting great. It shifts firmer, smoother, and quicker than I ever thought it could. Under WOT im chirping the tires in 2nd and 3rd! Gears, can't comment on. I understand why you would get them though.

Big things
Cold air/ Exhaust/ Tuner- You are going to want a tune on the car regardless, so max it out and get an intake that requires one. The Steeda CAI I have is awesome. There is a definite power gain. My exhaust (Flowmaster American Thunder 817410(not the classic) sound even better now because of it. There was a tiny bit of drone in them to begin with. Now with the intake, tune and the exhaust combo, there is None! It sounds badass under acceleration and is so quiet over 60.
Sounds like you already have mod ideas on your mind. My 04 gt loves my x pipe but then again I deleted 4 cats I believe yours has two. I'm in the 05+ forum right? Lol

I'd recommend checking out UPR's forum in the vendor's marketplace. We've written several install threads on our S197 Mustang and I think the information will be useful to you for your build. We've installed suspension, CAI, tuner, exhaust, hood pins, oil separator, etc.

Here's the link:
