Real HP gains from JLT series 3 and SCT programmer?

Hello, I am new to the forums and just got an 05 GT that is bone stock.:) I already ordered some mac axle backs and was looking at cold air intakes and noticed that the series 3 requires a tuner.

My question is who is the best SCT tuner seller out there? And what kind of real gains could you expect from a series 3 CAI and a tune?

Also thinking about going to 3.73s or 4.10s so I would need the tuner for that anyways.:gringreen

My car is an auto BTW. My old 03 GT I had was a stick and I would have preferred a stick in the 05 but it was too cheap to pass up.

Thanks in advance for the replies and I plan to be around here quite a bit.

you will gain around 25hp with that CAI and tune.
I've also got the JLT series 3 and no complaints, other than the fact that the filter doesn't fit all nice and snug into the elbow like my old Steeda did, but that's it. Either Brenspeed or American Muscle (Bama) will do a good job tuning it, unless you go with a custom shop.

You made a good choice looking at the JLT series 3. We run the series 3 on all of our Naturally Aspirated NMRA race cars and most of our customers cars. Its priced right as well and very easy to install. Not only are you looking at a nice 25+ HP gain with a calibration and intake the car will drive way more responsive as well. Ford left a lot of room for us to increase performance.

I'm guessing the 25+ is on a 93 octane tune? What do you see on your 89 tunes?

Do you guys sell the SCT iTSX? That looks like that would be pretty slick with being able to use the iphone with bluetooth.:)

Yes when looking at that link there is a drop down to upgrade for $90. Thanks!

Using a regular octane vs premium on a pretty stock N/A car would be about a 7 HP reduction (roughly). You still get all of the advantage of improved drive by wire, trans settings, vct settings, improved fan adjustments, and so on but a little less HP kick at wide open throttle.

Thanks for the info. If I swap gears do I have to get a new tune from you guys or can you change it without having a new tune wrote? Do you think it is worth the extra $90 to get the iTSX?

Either programmer will allow you to adjust your gear ratio so you are good to go. I think $90 is a good price for the upgrade if you like the bells and whistles, but honestly most people go with an SCT X3.

I was told when I ordered my gears that I would need a new tune because I was an auto as he is. He would need a new tune as well wouldn't he?

I have an automatic, and I didn't order a new tune when I changed my gears (3.31 to 3.73). Some said I needed a new tune, some said I didn't.

Speedometer was way off but that seemed to be it. Also made it look like the shift points were way off. I just plugged my tuner in (I got mine from Bama, SCtx3) and went into the options to adjust the gear ratio. Re-loaded it and I was good to go. No issues, shift points are normal under both regular driving and wide open thottle.:yup:

Depends... Some auto cars like posted above will allow adjustment, others will not. So because all calibrations have open user adjustability you first attempt to change it and typically it will work. If not and the speeds and shift points are still way off it has to be adjusted in the calibration. More times than not, it can be adjusted with the programmer.
