my 88 ford mustang runs great it just lacks power it has a light miss at idle and all tune up has been done and injectors all check out fine. i believe my timing chain is wore out and wonder if anyone has had this problem as well. i can move the crank an inch back and forth before the rotor in the dist. moves. please gimmie some feed back.

an inch back and forth with no movement to the cam sounds extreme.if this is actually the case then your chain is way stretched.how many miles on this motor?
chain play

350,000 KILOMETRES, i changed the chain yesterday,it was really cheap $60 canadian for a sealed power double roller kit with gaskets. and it only took 5 hours an that included a thermostat housing leak that took an hour to fix. it dosent miss at idle anymore, but i still have a weird lack in power, what does everyone else set there timing at? right now i have it at 10 degrees before tdc with the spiggot out, i live in southern ontario and the weather is usually normal. no altatude issues. any input? i think its possible it be fuel related im installing a hood mounted fuel pressure gauge to monitor it during acceleration. other than that i dunno.
