rear end damage on 2005 ford mustang

My 2005 Mustang GT convertible was rear ended. It occured at an angle with the big Checy Pick up hitting it near the center but aiming more towards the driver.

The rear bumper was replaced and the trunk fixed as well (it had buckled enough to not allow the trunk to open and the lid to rise up.) Also after the accident the fuel filler door "caught" and was no longer "round" in the fuel door area (drivers side) and the convertible top "catches" on the passengers side when down and going back up.

The shop (recommended by the insurance company) and insurance company (All State) insist that the fuel filler door was prior damage and that it is "impossible" for such a collision to cause this kind of problem.

Q. Has any other owner of this line has a similar issue with a rear end collision?

not that I don't trust this show that is "supposed" to have such an item... but I don't trust this shop (the car also drives "sloppy" now (noticed it right away after the accident) where it feels a little unstable and the rear wants to follow ruts in the road).

Burn the car to the ground and get a new one. (did I say that out loud?);)

You should take it to a shop that you trust. You don't have to use what they recommend.
Burn? my baby? Never! DTE FLI errors and all. It is still my surrogate for a 1967...
yeah get that at a shop that knows hat they are doin and mesure that thing. numbers dont lie, bad shops and insurance companies do. :bigthumbsup
My experience over the years with body work, even good shops, is that the car is never the same after a collision. Its difficult enough to blend/hide paint work. Even more so with major collision / component repairs. I would stay on top of the insurance company, remember you are the customer. An unsatisfied customer at that!

Sounds like they don't want to pay to repair all the damage. I would def get a lawyer.
Get a 4 wheel alignment to see if car was bent out of shape in frame rails in rear of unit body.
