I'm looking to re-gear a 96 gt auto to 3:73's. I know I need the gears and a tuner. Wondering how much money it will take including install. Any recommendations on where to find parts for less?

Since the car is 12 years old, you'll want to rebuild the LSD at the same time. You're usually looking at $800-1000, with all parts and installation.

OTOH, you can contact Forte's Parts and order a complete new diffferential for $800 (minus axles and brakes).

Is there a specific reason why the limited slip cant handle new gears or are you just saying its a good idea because its older?

Just because it's 12 years old. And the price differance isn't that much.

Might be cheaper to swap the entire rear.
