rear main seal install question

Installing the rear main seal and I'd like some tips from anyone who has done it on this motor. Such as?

Without the Ford tool, how deep do I set the seal in the housing?
What (if any) sealant do I use on the seal to housing junction?

Any other tips you can think of?
