I have a 1967 mustang with 289 V8, automatic transmission, power steering, and drum brakes. I would like to convert the front drum brakes to power disc brakes. I'm looking for recommendations on the best full conversion kits available. Best brand, best place and best kit. Thanks!

I used an SSBC kit when I did the same thing a few years back. Their site is very easy to navigate and find the right kit for your car. Here's one that's 3-piston, power brakes. This one is 4-piston. This one has 11" rotors. Make sure the rotor size fits in the wheels you have. I have no complaints!

I'm guessing your Mustang is basically stock... definitely look at Factory-Style disc conversions.

Like this: Classic Mustang Disc Brake Conversions and Power Steering

That's what I have. Works fine for street use. No regrets.

Or you could go all-in with a "big brake" system, like a 14" 6-piston Wilwood. But I bet that's overkill for you. And a lot more than you want to spend.

As I've reported on other threads on this forum, I installed an SSBC kit in my '66 289 years ago and had no problems. But the opposite was true for the rear conversion recently, and I got absolutely no help from SSBC. Doubt I will ever consider buying theirs again.

We used the CSRP kit on our '66, and we are pretty happy with the results. The price was right, components seemed of good quality, installation was pretty straightforward as well. The toughest part was bending a couple of new lines for the MC.

The difference in braking is remarkable. Good luck!

Another happy CSRP customer. I used the SN95 kit with bigger rotors and calipers they offer for sell.

I've got a Wilwood kit on the rear of my Mustang, and I really wish they had their basic front kit when I was in the market. Four piston aluminum calipers will give better pedal feel and more consistent braking than single piston sliding calipers. So, for the same cost, you could have a much better braking system.

If you have at least 17" wheels you can go with the mustang Steve setup from you drums and have any of the SN95 brakes. Even the 13" cobra brakes. IMO you cannot have "too good" braking especially if you plan to add power later. Do the brakes up now so you don't pay for it again later.

Power Steering Bergson 999020 kit-- Hoses too short, they touch Manifold no help from Bergeson. Otherwise OK

CSRP Front disk brake kit. Works great. Had to call Dennis for a little help. he was very helpful. Good quality merchandise and parts and great customer service. Also very competitive in price. Would recommend this one kit to all.

Consider the Scarebird conversion brackets, the rotor & calipers will be off-shelf parts store stock so you never have to worry about finding replacement parts down the road.
