Hello!

I recorded the whining sound coming from the engine using Audacity free software, and posted the file here -

Free file hosting by Savefile.com

The file "description" is Mustang, you can't miss it. Next, download and install the free audio program Audacity (choose the version for your OS), here -

Audacity: Download

The second half of the recording of a 12 minute trip today provides better audio of the whining. What could be causing it?
Thanks
Sustain

manual, and vehicle is moving

Here's the best explanation I found so far:

I'm getting a whining sound while driving from under the hood. According to this thread, it could be:
"..
Turns out that this squeek is common on the Ford 3.8l V6 (mine is at 90,000 miles).
It's the camshaft position sensor. It sits right behind the water pump smack dab dead center front of the engine with an electrical connection. So, with the "screwdriver to the ear stethoscope test" you can and do get a transferrance of squeek through to the water pump(and think the water pump is bad) it is actually the camshaft position sensor or sometimes called the camshaft syncronizer.."

Any thoughts on that?
