This weekend I'm going to be replacing my compressor and accumulator and I have a question. In my Chilton's book it says that refrigerant needs to be added to the accumulator and the compressor, when it also says that the accumulator must be replaced if the compressor is being replaced.

When they intrstuctions say oil needs to be added to both installation procedures, are they saying if it's the only thing being replaced?

If I add 6 ounces (just using numbers here) to the accumulator and then 6 more ounces to the compressor, is that going to mean that I have too much oil in the system, or is that correct?
Do you have the machine to evac and replace the freon?

uhh... yea. :naughty

now back to the matter at hand..

Well since I take it you dont then you cannot just simply add oil and bolt them on. Evacuate the air and moisture that are in there then add the freon charge then oil. If your doing this at home the old school way you will have moisture and air in it and it will not work.
