Release handle.....why?

Why did Ford put a release handle in the trunk? You can push the seats down into the back seat if you somehow got trapped. I know it's such a huge trunk:winks and someone might have to put there entire body in there to get something out, but....just a thought.

You cannot push the seats down from the trunk. There are latches on the seats. They are released when you pull on those little tabs to pull the seatbacks down. Check it out for yourself!
You can slide the handle through the groove where its cord originates and it stays inside. I learned this by accident when mine fell inside a few weeks after I got my car. I thought it fell off, but I saw the glow through the crack, and sure enough it was inside. I'm content with it there! If I really got caught inside my trunk, I would rather find a way to short the wires on the release solenoid to pop the trunk than use the release handle...it would make MacGuyver proud!:tongue
