I have a '12 Brembo car, (details in my sig)....Anyhow I had the opportunity to rent a '13 V6, auto, convertible car for the next few days and I got to drive it alot today.
The warm sunny skies in Phoenix right now might have biased my opinion somewhat, but I think this a very nice car. The motor is smooth and strong...and I must say it does sound great when you reallty wind it up. It is definitely a quick car when you "give it the beans".
The suspension is definitely softer and the car rides smoother/quieter than my brembo car, a combination of the different tires and springs I'm guessing. I don't see this as a bad thing, just different. On a day to day basis this would be a very nice car to commute in.
I have an MT-82 in my mustang, so this is my first drive in one with the auto....it seems ok, but if your really want to make time the sport shift mode is a must.....the tranny does seem slow to downshift at times...but overall it works very nicely in my opinion. And the convertible top....love it down, at least I love it here on a 78 degree sunny day. Cant say I've really driven it at anything over 30mph with the top up, but it is hard to see out of when backing up.
The display between the gauges is really cool, I do find my self looking at them to the point of distraction though. :nono: Anyway, i would like them in my '12, and though I've read a number of threads complaining of probs/failures with them I'm a little jealous. :D
The stereo system and sync.. this car does have sync, but I find it more difficult to setup/use since its not the touchscreen nav system like mine. For some reason it stopped playing music via the USB port as soon as I paired the bluetooth w/ my iPhone. I'm sure its my fault, but I'm too lazy to figure it out since I'll only have it a couple more days. Beyond that the sound system sounds just like mine...adequate, but "muddy".
To sum it up I really enjoyed my sunny day in this '13 vert, and if I had the money I'd probably have one of these as a daily driver and save the brembo car for "hooliganism and other assorted activities". :winks

inb4 another 20 page thread :winks
Another 20 page thread is fine, as long as it does not become a v8 vs v6 bash again. :winks

You'd probably have some of the same thoughts about my car -- albeit with a bit more grunt and a smidge more suspension than a V6 vert. And yeah....rear vision for backing up can be a chore...(unless the top is down).

As I very nearly bought a V6, I'm not surprised that its fun, too. A very solid argument can be made for both options, and V6s continue to outsell GTs....

Either way, they're really fun cars.

Hate the high rear seat headrests. Just looks so out of place.

Yep, basic Sync sucks. You have to tell it either USB or Bluetooth as both use the Aux button. Even the basic Focus has MySync Touch it seems ridiculous that their premium car comes with five year old Sync technology. Ford also made sure you cannot replace the radio very easily. Two thumbs way down.

My step-dad owns a 2011 V6 convertible and it's what made me go buy my 2012 coupe.

I am glad you enjoyed the rental experience; several others here over the past year have posted similar stories and they too enjoyed the ride.

Assume most if not all the V-6 rental cars are autos...

Mine is a '12 V-6 vert that i ordered, with the 6-spd manual. Then you add a tune, a CAI kit, a MGW shifter and change out the rear-gears to 3.73. Let's just say it is now a whole different animal! Loving mine... :winks

I've had the chance to drive our 2013 v6 auto as well. Granted, we do have ours equipped with a Bama/Airaid package, it was a blast to drive. I've always been more of a muscle v8 kind of guy, but the new 3.7 v6 really holds its own. Plus, as you said- the gauges/interior is pretty cool on the '13's as well.

However, unfortunately our '13 v6 is not an vert, so I didn't get to have the top down haha. Moral of the story- I was very impressed!

I had the opposite impression. I had a 2013 rental and I hated it. I much preferred my 2012.

First thing I hated was the auto transmission. That drove me nuts. My car is MUCH more responsive.

Second complaint was with the silver plastic pieces on the steering wheel. Being only 4 months old it was already scratched and marred and looked like it was closer to 10 years old. I'm glad I don't have it in my car.

Don't like the nose, but the tail lights were nice. Gas mileage was MUCH lower than mine, despite having the same engine.

All in all I'm glad I got a '12. I wouldn't have bought a Mustang at all if that '13 rental had been my only experience with one.

Dont get me wrong, I still love the styling and performance of my '12 Brembo GT, but I like this '13 for the fact that it is easy to drive AND fun to drive. It's also rides smoother and quieter. For basically being the same car, it is much different, and I can appreciate that.
I will say that I prefer the hood and front end on my '12, the tail lights...meh, I like them both equally.
I think the PERFECT compromise might just be a new '13 GT500 'vert. That roughly equals the HP and style of the GT and the V6 combined! :bigthumbsup (talking myself into a bigger car payment here).

For the daily driver...you can't go wrong with the v6. It's fun to drive, it has just enough of everything. But the v8 in power and sound are pure music! Yes...it is nice to see someone else who likes the 3.7. Just think we could be driving camaro's.
