I have a boss intake manifold and CAI and wondering would it be ok to drive it to dealership (about 5 miles) just as long as I dont go WOT?
I have a thread which I thought my tune was causing a p0300 and p0301 but after help from bama techs and Chris Rose of bama the tune is not the problem. After looking over hardware it looks ok.
I am leaning towards crankshaft position sensor needs to be relearned. Recently had clutch and pressure plate replaced. The dealer did not perform the crankshaft position relearn. so that is why i need to go to stock tune so the dealership can run the crankshaft position relearn.
I am also interested in knowing about this. I have a Steeda CAI and it specifically states "do not use without a tune" But if you baby it to the dealer will it be ok without the tune ? The other problem would then be, what if the dealer test drives the car, and they decide to get on it .
Certain CAIs will actually give a cel but won't affect the car as much( my airaid was like that) but my JLT u CAN'T do that at all as the car Iddles Super rough... u hear the car just sound horrible.
I had the same problem when the dealer installed the FRPP tune a couple days later... If you have a procal tuner this can be corrected...
go to learn in the tuner and as it says blip the throttle past 3000 rpms
Also good luck getting any warranty work done with that boss intake on a non-boss engine
The dealer scan tool will most likely work with your tune. It won't recognize the calibration and the pcm tear tag number will have to be entered manually. Then all the normal IDS functions will be there including the relearn option.
Whether or not you want to take it to the dealer in such a state only you can answer..

So basically I should be able to leave my tune on the car and the IDS tool will not erase my custom tune just perform an adjustment. I guess the same way you can adjust options with the tuner like gear ratio.
so u have a boss intake n a cai? yeah that tune or no tune wont matter the fact that u have the boss intake n not the boss is dead giveaway you have a tune on the car duh so leave it on. Dealer will know its not a boss so a boss intake is only workable with a tune. n u could prolly do sum damge with your car taking the tune off

Not really worried about the boss intake being on there. The dealer has all ready done warrenty work on my car with my mods. Worried about whether the custom tune needs to be removed before the dealer can perform the relearn.
Basically will the custom tune be overwritten if I leave it on the car when the dealer does the relearn procedure.
Even without going WOT most intakes will have the car running very lean because the stock tune won't be reading the right amount of airflow coming in. I wouldn't even idle the car with an aftermarket intake and no tune. So either take the intake off too or just leave the tune on there. As for the Boss mani, I don't think that would cause any problems if you baby it there. The CAI definitely will though.
With your tune in there, the code on the processor will need to be entered into the ids to start the session. Aka: GTU6. Then it will work just like normal, service functions tab, misfire monitor neutral profile correction reset.
thanks. in a way I feel kind of bad telling the dealership tech what to do. but from what they told me I was the first 2011 to come in with a clutch/pressure plate issue. so they probably don't have any experience yet with this type of issue.
Does anyone really need all this trouble? .......Plum
