the only way you have a rev. limit...is to have a aftermarket ignition system...like a msd 6al...and why would you have a 4000rpm chip in there?...most cases guys will set it around 5500 rpm's on a stock engine.

There IS a "rev limiter".

The EEC module limits the engine at around 6200 RPM, and that's a "hard limit" i.e. cutting off fuel delivery. Spark output is cut off around 7000 RPM.

The "stock" engine makes peak horsepower at 4000 RPM. That is depandant upon the camshaft, cylinder heads, intake, etc. It has nothing to do with the programming of the EEC module or the transmission.

is it a loss of power or does the engine seem like its quitting on you? What mods if any do you have?

There's a rev limiter at 6200-6250 rpm, it drops the fuel delivery like Fox said. To get rid of it, you'll need a chip with that feature. And the factory tach is notoriously inaccurate, they tend to read lower at low rpms and higher at high rpms.

Timing is not cutout until ~7000 RPM. Fuel is cut before then.

To override fuel and timing you either have to use a chip or contoller that interfaces with the factory ECM or you have to replace the ECM with another one. Replacing the ignition system (with Crane, MSD, etc.) will not override the timing cutout at ~7000 RPM.

then why is it that when i spray the car and hit the 5750 mark it nose dives and feels like the comp. is takeing timing out?

Stock computers have a 6250 rev limiter which cuts fuel.
I've run mine out in third gear at the track a couple times and you can feel the motor cut out and the car nose over.
I have a 93GT.
