ok i have a f303 cam aluminum 202 heads and stock length fordged pushrods and 1/6 roller rockers. the cam card says valve setting "hot". what the hell does that mean? i have the rockers set at 10 thousandths between the rocker tip and the valve tip. is this too much? the car acts sluggish and im thinking this is the problem but im not sure what to set the rockers at. i get slightly lost when it somes to setting vales so if anyone can give me advice or a tip i would love the responce. thanks guys:bigthumbsup

You don't set valve lash on a Hydraulic Roller Cam. That's for solid cams. You have to set "Preload" on the lifters. Find 0 lash/preload. Then go 1/2 turn past that. Then lock it all down. Youre done.

Don't twist the pushrod either when you are finding 0 lash/preload. Move the pushrod up and down until there is no more slack between the pushrod and rocker arm.

All that goes out the window if you didn't measure for the correct length pushrods. Specially after changing heads, cam and rocker type.

umm? this is my first hydrolic roller set up, so your saying take out all the slack then turn the poly lock a full half turn before i tighten down the lock? wouldnt that have every vale cracked slightly? im not saying ur wrong at all im just asking a question ive never done this setup like i said and this is my first adventure with fuel injection aswell. but i do see what your saying by''preload'' basicly as soon as the camlobe starts coming up the valve is already opening and theres no lash. just seems astho a half turn would have the valves cracked.

no it wont open the valve,it'll start to collapse the hydraulic lifter..the lifter is what you're pre-loading,not the valve opening

but, like he said,if you didnt measure and dont have the proper length pushrod, you'll either have too much preload or not enuff
