I have a 2002 GT 5 speed, just got it not long ago. The first time I washed it I thought I might have gotten water in my cat backs. I started it up and started driving, ran like crap. I could feel it shaking, like it was missing a cylinder. Ran crappy through every gear up untill about 3,500 or so rpms and it would smooth out. I could tell a dramatic loss in power utill it smoothed out... So I ran it for about 1 1/2 hours and it went away. Washed it today and totally avoided the exhaust all together. And Im thinking maybe water is getting something wet under the hood from the hood scoop??? Im thinking it would be a smart idea to change the plugs???

If there is water, you must remove the water. The presence of water is bad. It'll short out the spark coming from the coil to the spark plug, causing a misfire.

The COP should be fine if you dry it out. You need not replace the COP just because there's water under it.
