RPM gauge stuck

I have a 1989 LX Convertible 5.0 and the RPM gauge is stuck on 4000. It never moves unless you take the car above 4000 rpm's. It will then pick up at 4000 and go up, but only go back down to 4000 - its an auto. Any ideas about what is wrong with it? Thanks, this is my first post, although not my first mustang - I have two right now.

hi, my cousin had the same problem and he had to change the tach those tach suffers of that thing he got another one from a junk jard...

RPM stuck

Hey did you ever get that RPM problem fixed? I am having same problem with my 89 LX 5.0 convertible. Let me know how you fixed it.

not yet. I have not replaced the tach yet. considering you have the same exact car as i have, what issues are you having
