Safe boost level

So I ordered a 3.85 size pulley from procharger and will make 10 psi. Im a little concerned if that will be not safe or pushing the stock internals too much. Anyone know if that fine to do on the stock engine? Anyone making 10 psi or more?

Also Im at 393 RWHP and 316 torque, how much gains am I expecting with 2 more pounds of boost?

Thanks

I only made 9.5 psi with the 3.85" pulley and full exhaust. I made 430/350 at the wheels I think. I cant remember exactly now, it was a long time ago. lol You could hit 10 psi if you still have the stock exhaust manifolds and cats. You should be around 420rwhp. That would be my max if I were you for long term dependability. If you build a street tune with 93 octane and then build a race tune with 110, C16 or E85 you could push more timing and get to 450rwhp. You could safely run that level with those fuels. You'll enjoy that level of power.

What is your limiter set at? Stock 6800? You can run up too 7400rpm safely just to let it pull harder in the thrird and fourth gears.

Remember my engine popped at 550rwhp/430rwtq. That is the deadnuts limits of this engine for race abuse in my opinion.

a good tune, good fuel, and common sense are the main things to have with boost...if that thing EVER knocks or misses get out of it immediately...get an onboard a/f meter as well so you can know if something is wrong, more power is probably not what you need, suspension and hook will be your limiting factor

I would hope that you already have the gauges. A/F, Exhaust Temp and Boost Pressure are the minimum you need. With E85 you truly cant get pre-detonation. If you stay on 93 then you really need to watch the A/F guage when your into it. If it starts knocking the computer will adjust the timing to compensate. Just dont let your tuner turn off your knock sensors or even adjust them in the tune.

Do any guages come with the Procharger kit?
gauges do not come with the Procharger kit. On my 5.0 I went from the 4.00 stock pulley to a 3.85 . It picked up about 1.5 pounds and only 10 rwhp. Maybe on a smaller motor you may get more boost.

Yeah I was thinking around 420rwhp as well, and id be happy with that on 93 octane. My limiter I believe is set at 6800.

Wow what got you to those numbers?? thats close to gt supercharged territory!

I have an air fuel analog gauge, and my tuner is pretty safe so I dont think he'll turn off the knock sensors.

And Ive been asking around and getting different opinions on fuel injectors; im not that familiar with the fuel systems, but does anyone know if I need to upgrade to 80 lbs/hr fuel injectors? or can I keep my 50 lbs/hr ones that came with the kit if I use the 3.85 pulley?

You get bigger injectors too? or did you keep the ones from the kit?

Stayed with the ones that came with the stage 2 kit.
50lb will be fine for what your looking at. I have 92.5 lb but that is for the E85 tune.
hmmm id like to do this eventually.. i think my tune is so safe now, so much fuel and low timing I could proably get away with just swapping the pulley, doing a data log and it should all look good. I think a dyno tune would be a waste for 2lbs more of boost. A few days ago when i drove my car I acaully was getting like 8.5psi at 6900rpms. It was like 40 degrees out though.. and too much fun haha

No a dyno tune is not a waste for a 2psi increase. You could be rich now and add in 2psi and you could be running in the high 13 A/F at WOT. That makes cool little holes in the tops of those cast pistons. Dont skimp on tuning or you'll be spending 20x more replacing your engine.
