Saw a Ford GT this weekend...

I know this doesn't necessarily apply to 2011+ Mustangs, but I figured everyone here would appreciate it. We were down at the Florida panhandle, driving to the beach, and one of my friend's neighbors had this sucker sitting in the driveway.

I live in Atlanta and see plenty of Porsche, Ferrari, etc., but I think this was the first time I ever saw one of these. I'll post a pic in a bit, but I just wish I had seen it in motion :worship

Owner of the Ford dealership closest to me has a red one.... the owner of Honda across the way from Ford owns a black one, too. hahahahaha
Ford GT is pretty much mustangs big dady. I remeber the press releas ford held of the 5.0 and the 3.7 and they actually mentioned the Ford GT as a modle for some of the development aspects of them. So yeah, its relevant! Ill try to dig it and post it some time.

And yeah, that thing is gorgeous and quite a statement!!
Fords got some bawls showing up Ferrari's 360 modena (the 458 Italia of the time) in both style and ability!!
Of course Chevy just sat there and did nothing untill they realized how much publicity it got them and came out with the ZR1.
witch unfortunatly still looks like a Corvette. . . because . . . it is a . . .Corvette. And to the lay person, another Corvette lol. Fail!

Edit: I think Chevy had the Zo6 out at the time?

guy across the street from me has one that he had painted in classic racing colors and has the numbers on it and everything.(weird blue and orange. LOOKS AWESOME) I also heard he spent a whole 250,000 bucks extra just getting the engine boosted. Heard it puts out 1200 horsepower now. needless to say, when he does start the car, the whole neighborhood knows about it.

That is a heritage edition. A guy in my old town (Pensacola, FL) Had one just like that. I thought he had painted it, but turns out it was ordered that way. And yes those things are bad ass!!

I see two everyday when I go to school.
I think I'm pretty hot stuff in my Mustang 5.0 (in a non pompous way, I'm proud of it but not Mr. "Eff you, I'm better") but then as I was walking to my cadr from work, there was a custom Roush tuned 5.0...and then just a bit further down next to it was a Ford GT Heritage. I died a little inside because I felt so worthless. Oh well. :bigthumbsup

yeah, one of the major leaguers here has one that says "218 MPH" on the tag....
I thought my 'stang was fast until I got a ride in one of those... My uncle (who is a Ford dealer and a GT owner) let me know that you "shift into fourth at 140 when you're doing a full throttle run" before we took it out... I didn't believe him at first, but he proved me wrong :bigthumbsup

It is an awsome car all around and a great way to stay under the radar but you would probably still have every Chevy, even the slightest, fan ogling at u. And in the states thats alot of people i think lol.

It definitely reminds you to just enjoy YOUR car but still admire others'. There's always someone out there with something "much more better" :)
The guy that owns the dealership where I bought my car owns one, white with blue stripes. He'll let it go for about $160K if anyone is interested. I think it has just around 4K miles on it. I sat in it and felt like I had that supercharger about 6 inches away from my head. Getting out of them is a bit tricky, you have to remember to swing the door way out otherwise you'll be dislocating a shoulder if you don't slither your way out.

As for the ZR1 over the GT, no way I would take the Vette given the choice. ZR1's are a dime a dozen compared to the Ford GT plus they will be worth a ton more than any ZR1 down the road.

Anyway, Sorry to derail from OP. I still think the sound of the Ford GT is soooooo addicting. I had just started college when this video was made and thought to myself that if i was ever caught driving like this my insureance bill would be this big
|----------------------------------------------------------------|
and i would be stuck driving a prius till i was 60. And that sound, the down shift alone at 2:05 made the whole video worth watching for me. Even though these guys seem to be fakeing that the cop is chasing them they still are driving crazy fast in a public street lol.
In apology fro the derailment. . .

Heres a picture of the Speedo so you can get an idea of how fast they are going. The speedo is to the right of the steering wheel and pretty much in the middle of the screen.

edit: 160k for a GT with 4k miles sounds about right, my father had just traded the LP560 for a 458 though. I doubt he would go for it. We have been offerd one for 80k a few years back, however it had some well loved miles on it. Forgot how much but it was quite a bit.

Haha, yeah...you're basically asking for it driving something that unique and going that fast. If the cop has to choose where to aim the laser, guess where it's going to be :)

I honestly wasn't aware of such a production model, and when we drove by fast the first time, I thought it might've been an Italian car. Still waiting on my brother to send me the pic he took on his phone.

Makes me wanna run from the cops as well ;)
Did you ever end up buying your car?
G
Two weekends ago I saw a white one with blue stripes..... at a gas station. If I had the money, I would definitely buy one if it were available.
This is the last and only Ford GT I have seen on the road. Sorry the crappy quality but it a drive by shot.
