Scratches

I've got some too. I dont have a plan either. Any help would be appreciated.:thumbsup

Hey pc- I've got the dark charcoal too and I'd be afraid that any harsh cleaner would take the color off the plastic. I have many scratches around the console area. I didn't put them there either. Some help from the dealer visits?? :sterb:

I'm pretty sure Meguiars has a polish for plastic but it could be for clear application like tail light lenses.

Man, I was sure that there would be something out there by now... This has been a big problem with restoring old cars for forever...
I guess I need to be **EXTRA** careful with my new baby!

Sorry, I don't have a solution to your scratches. But 7 inches of snow tonight! Holy crap, I can't even imagine. Sitting outside on my patio right now surfing the web. Just got back from cruising in my baby with all the windows down. Winter time is the perfect time of year in my neck of the woods. Gonna try out some new NXT wax in the morning before the sun gets too hot.

PC - Dark plastics actually show the least amount of wear. If it is acually scratched (a layer of plastic gone) there is nothing you can do other than replace the effected piece.

But, if it is superficial you can use an all purpose cleaner and tooth brush or similiarly bristled brush. Try in inconspicuous place as a test, it is possible to use to strong of a cleaner.

Shut it. Just... I... I don't wanna hear it.

Yesterday, we had three inches of snow. This morning, I get up to go pick up the truck from the dealership [walking to get it] and the roads look good. I start walking and discover that we got some freezing rain last night, on top of the snow. What a treat. I guess the Mustang stays in the garage today. My truck windows were frosted on the inside, as well as the outside. The good news is that we get like 1/4 inch of rain in the summer. Crystal clear blue skies all summer. First few days of fall? Cloudy followed by precipitation, in one form or another every week, till spring.

We, who live where we can't drive our cars all year, are somewhat envious because of that. Snow is nice unless you love your Mustang.

A replacement part cant be that expensive. Those panels or whatever you want to call them sure do take alot of abuse over years. Maybe picking up an extra isnt a bad idea. I am careful as possible when I get in/out, but sometimes you just cant help it. To preserve it keep alot of armor all like stuff on it. I use aerospace303 protectant. Helps the clodhopers slide across, vs digging in and scratching.

How about those seat belts getting out. I've had mine fly over and hit the door pillar for a few nicks. My Denali was notorious for that, bad design.

Hah, yeah I mentioned that in another post. I hate that. Just the sound of it! :happyhapp

I don't have that problem very often with the seat belt thing but my wife can't get out without doing that! Also, I have two child seats in the back and I have caught my four-year-old lounging with his foot on the console lid. No scratches there yet but I keep telling him "that's not what that's for."

I know what you mean, I hate that! It's hard not to have scratches when you've got the dark charcoal interior. In order to avoid scratching the inside you have to be moving in slow motion when you're getting in or out of the car so your shoes don't drag and so the seatbelt doesn't fly back when you let go of it. Or maybe I'm just not graceful enough anymore! :laughlitt
