SCT Bama Tuning Issues

1692 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  amustangrocks
Hey guys,

Im having some issues with my 09 v6 and tuning it.

I have found that after I run a tune (or even return it to stock) that it has some terrible idle surges for a bit after the tune.

It seems to be the worst when coasting in neutral. I mean the car goes crazy, 1000-3000rpm jumps.

I have read some posts about the PCM being a problem but I need some help, bad.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Reset your ECU

Check out post #14 in this thread. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/foru...34036-ecu-reset-really-works.html#post2963018

It explains how to reset the ECU. :bigthumbsup

You may also want to pick up some MAF cleaner particularly if you are using an oiled air filter.

mdlinvil,

I replied to your PM on the other forum we were talking on (MustangForums I believe?). Check it out when you get a chance. I gave you a few tips in there to try out before making any tune adjustments.

Let me know how it works out!

Shane

amustangrocks,

I actually don't believe it is in the tune because he states that the same issues occurs when he goes back to the stock tune. What it sounds like to me is a dirty throttle body that is throwing off the TPS sensor. This would cause erotic idle behavior at the very least. Plus, as already mentioned, cleaning the MAF sensor isn't a bad idea either.

I appreciate your suggestion, I just feel this is more of a mechanical issue causing the main issue.

Now I know what makes your tunes so special! :laughlitt

oh ya, ok. i thought maybe he just got it, and gave a bad number, but then it wouldnt run at all. for sure you want to have a clean throttle body. that can cause erratic idling. not to mention decent plugs. also maybe make sure all the intake connections are tight. also look at the maf, if its dirty get some cleaner for that too. but really crazy surges? almost sounds like a vacuum leak. did you install a oil catch can off the pcv? if it runs half decent driving it, its probably not the tune, and like said some other issue(s)
