now before i start i know a dyno tune would be the best but for my mods, budget and area im looking at other options and the SCT eliminator chip seems the best, car currently has an Offroad X-Pipe, and Glasspacks. i plan on getting an cold air intake, throttle body and other bolt ons. during the winter i might also put a cam and heads on the car as well. so do these chips work or is it a waste?

It depends heavily on the year and ECM used for the need of a chip. Honestly, they are not so much a waste of money, the problem is you have to return it for canned tunes to be installed, or you have to find someone that can flash tune it with a dyno. Moates QuarterHorse or Megasquirt are DIY methods of tuning, but there is a steep learning curve. The A9P/A9L computers would not need a tune for those mods. I believe it is 92+ cars that had ECM's that hated aftermarket cams, but I am guessing here.

I don't have any form of tune on my car, I just let the ECM do it's thing and it has done a great job tuning for my parts.

i did borrow my cousins old computer he had in his 93 mustang 5.0 it was a A9L computer with some mods done to it and the first time he ever had it down the 1/4 it ran 14.2 on street tires with a bone stock motor and only cherry bombs for mufflers he gave me it to try and my car ran so rich i started it and it had no power and was smoking black from the excess fuel

94 and 95 don't like older computers and don't take to mods easily at times. Dyno tune is the only way to go, but you'd need the SCT chip to have a tune burnt onto it, make sure your tuner can do it.

When I bought my 1989 GT last month I noticed that it has an SCT Eliminator installed, they give you 4 tunes, Race, Performance, Street, then Stock, plus an added engine kill setting for added security. The car doesn't have many mods at all but I do notice some difference between the settings, mostly from timing and air fuel mixture. When YOU are the original purchaser of the chip then you get a lifetime of tunes free of charge as you progress with your modifications which is a good deal.
