Tune files cannot be opened like you would a word document. This is because the tune file is an LL3 type file. The file can only be added to your handheld from your laptop. You will need the X3LWUpdater program to accomplish this. The updater can be downloaded from the SCT website. It also provides instructions on how to use the updater program. I hope this helps you.
To open a tune file, you need Advantage 3 Software. If you had a racer package, with your processor code you could open and change any parameters. As far as your stock tune, it stays locked in your handheld tuner. You can look at a stock tune file, with the SCT software any time you open the software but you'll never see your exact stock tune file that stays locked in your tuner. If you had the SCT software package, any time you update your software you can open when completed. Everything you see in black is stock, anything you see in blue is under stock, and anything you see in red is above stock. But when you extract your stock tune from your computer, and download your modified tune your stock tune will remain in the handheld tuner. There is no way, that you can download your stock tune from your handheld tuner to a lap-top or PC, Mike. SCT Tuner.:bigthumbsup

What is the button called "Get Stock File" for with the SCT/Livewire Firmware updater software ? It downloads 2 files. 1 called stock.lbu and one called flash.lbu. Each are 960KB. What exactly are those ?
He's talking about the stock file. I don't think even the Advantage software can read that. I could be wrong for the first time this year though.....:hihi:
Correct... The stock tune cannot be edited.
