I just tuned my 2006 gt with the sct tuner running the 91 octain street tune.I have cmd plates ,twin 62 bbk throttel body ,InJen cold air, ceramic shorty headers pypes x-pipe and ford racing shorty mufflers. When I start the car it revs to 3000 rpm drops to around 1300 then goes into an almost stall mode at about 500 rpm jumps to 1200 rpm then levels off around normal 750.Untile the car warms it continues to rev to high as well as not staying at a normal idle. With the big throttel body it always started at a highr rpm then normal, but this 3000 plus is not good. American muscle tec said it may be a vacume leak.NOT. it would never idle at all if that was the case but I did check all ares for a laek. Then he said I have to make the car learn idle switch on air cond then off. Anybody hear of this problem?

My car did some weird stuff when I first installed my tune, it would shut off when I came to a stop, have weird idle rpms you name it, just give it some time it's learning the tune, after about 200 miles on the car it will level out.

Try starting the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Then put the A/C on and let it idle another 5. This might clear up the problem. I think that was all there was to it, but I'll try to find the thread with Chris from AM explaining what to do and why.

Give the Bama team a call on Monday. They'll take care of it for you! Any time you have a tuning-related question, make sure to call a Bama tuning specialist directly at the Bama hours/number listed in my signature. Our regular customer service team is excellent with parts and installation/tech advice, as they're all Mustang owners themselves, however tuning is a skill that is learned over years of experience and training. Make sure Bama is who you speak to!

The idle learning process is a good idea, but it sounds like it may not be your issue. Your FIRST start with the new tune should do what you're experiencing, and then after the car gets about 10 minutes of idle time and maybe 10 miles or so of driving, it should start and operate like stock.

We need to do this from a cold-start. After the car sits overnight, or for maybe 4-5 hours, re-load the tune over top of itself. Start the car when the tune is loaded, and let it sit for about 8 minutes or so, without touching the throttle. After that, turn on the A/C for another 2 minutes. Then go drive the car for about 10 miles. That will complete any idle learning process, and all of the idle tables should be fine. If you STILL experience any weird idle/starting problems, contact Bama and they'll take a look at it.

They'll start by looking at the tune to make sure that it was written correctly on our end and matches the info that you submitted. From there, they'll make sure that the info you submitted matches the modifications on your end. They'll get it straightened out for you!
