Greetings - I am looking for the audio specifications of the Shaker 500 without Navigation for 2011 GT coupe.

I know there are 8 speakers and that is all I know. I want to know where are the speakers located, size of the speakers and their slots, how much amplification for each speaker from the head unit. Is the woofers on the door being powered by an extra amplifier? All those kinds of information.

I want to slowly upgrade the speakers with good value for money audio components once the car arrives.

I had called into Crutchfield and they said stuff like the woofer on the door cannot be replaced until you totally make custom fittings, rings etc. Plus they said that there are four 6x8 slots two each in the front door and rear deck. And I can use low power driven coaxial speakers like Boston Acoustics s85 since the head unit is only sending like 7 watts rms watts of amplification into them.

So before I go any deeper a guide with ford audio specs for a Shaker 500 without Navigation for 2011 GT coupe would really really help - so I turn to you :) Thank You.

Yeah, I would like some info on this too!

I only see six speakers in my car! Granted it's a 2010 but it should be the same.

I'm looking to upgrade all of the speakers and add a sub in my car, but I am in the same boat with the extent of my knowledge.

The speaker in the upper part of the door houses a tweeter/mid combo. They count that as two speakers.

Seems to me that the Shaker 1000 in my 2005 is the same as a Shaker 500, except for that box in the trunk that I'd complain about taking up space if it wasn't for the tiny trunk opening vs. space ratio (Ford, give us a hatchback!).

I'm planning on being happy with my 2011 and a Shaker 500 + powered sub in the trunk.

I am wondering where the Shaker 500 amps are installed though...the Shaker 1000 has 4 amps stuffed behind the woofer. If the Shaker 500 is all powered by the head unit, than that would be news to me, and would change my opinion.

With the 2010s, the "general rule" was that replacing the 4 mid/tweeter combos with new speakers was the best thing you could do, as the stock speakers are pretty flimsy. 5x7s or 6x8s work for replacement, and they are relatively inexpensive. There are plenty of high quality speakers in those sizes that will not need an aftermarket amp.

The OEM subs are actually pretty good, unless you're looking to wake neighborhood babies. I had explored the idea of putting a pre-amplified bass tube in the trunk, but never saw it to fruition.

This was exactly what was told to me by Crutchfield Personnel. Thanks for the confirmation. I am not into increasing the Bass. I am into reproducing the music the way it was was recorded. I feel that the bass in the OEM system is bloated and boomy. I was thinking of using a better subwoofer in the 8" port to tighten the bass. But it seems I will have to stick with the OEMs.

So as the Crutchfield personnel said to consider 2 pairs of Boston Acoustics s85 -Any any other recommendation for speakers (I am not changing the OEM head unit) will be appreciated. Thank You all for your comments/posts.
