Shifter problem

I have a 2020 mustang gt with 11k miles when I bought it I noticed the shifter had a lot of play when I got to turn the car on I shifted into first gear or so I thought but it was third even tho I’m pushing the shifter to the left really hard it still goes into to third only way I can get it into first is by picking up the reverse lock out do you guys know what it might be ???

Punctuation please... If it's hard to read your post then you'll make people just X out and go to another thread.
If it has the original shifter in it then it's under warranty being a 2020 so simply take it to a Ford dealer to have them fix it. Don't mess with it or that might give them an excuse to deny you warranty work.

Agreed on taking it to the dealer while it is under warranty. Probably something is loose that needs to be tightened.

If it wasn't still under warranty, you might want to consider an aftermarket shifter, which should be a lot tighter than the factory one, and the installation of the new shifter should fix any installation problems.
