When I got my 88 LX it had a three point strut tower brace on it, I have put a Cobra intake on it, with a pretty pig phenolic spacer (I think its around an inch). Now my STB wont fit! I was thinking I could just bend it to fit, but the hood is stock so it wont fit. I actually had to get rubber washers and put them on the hood hinges to raise it so the intake wont dent my hood.
So I was thinking I could just cut the arms that attach to the firewall off and just have a two point STB.
Is this a good idea and will it still improve handling?
The firewall has little structural value, it's pretty soft, so I'd imagine taking the center bar out would negate all positive effects of the strut tower brace.
