I have a 1996 mustang gt 5 spd. when i bought the car the guy threw in 4.10's with it. my question is should i have them installed? what other mods should i have done to get them to work to the fullest potential? also how do you get the speedometer to read correctly again after the swap?? thanks for your help

And SCT Xcal will fix the speedo problem. 4.10's will be AWESOME for N/A use, or if you use a bottle :bigthumbsup

If you plan on going with a supercharger/turbo down the road/future, I highly recommend you go with a 3.55 or 3.73 gear ratio, as 1st/2nd will be completly pointless with 4.10s.

Exhaust, Intake, Tune, 4.10s, and maybe a small set of cams would do wonders!

I wish someone was nice enough to throw in 4.10's for me so i didn't have to buy them. But yes, do them, you won't regret it. You will also need the bearing kit or the speed shop can order them individually when you have them installed.

I paid 500 for mine to get done. But i paid for all of the Gear oil, bearings, gaskets etc...
one thing to be mindful of that happened to me and your driveshaft may be out of balance from the factory and vibrate at high speed. when i say vibrate at high speed i mean over 100mph.
any time I get mine (with 4.10's) over 100 it has a vibration in the rear... and the faster you go the worse it gets.
another thing about the 4.10s is I used to shift out of 4th at around 140, now that number is closer to around 110. no more shifting to 3rd to blast past somebody on the interstate at 70 anymore either... that was another hard habbit to break for me.
it sounds odd, but my gas mileage actually is about the same. I gained mileage around town and lost mileage on the interstate. I still average about 19-22 though all around.

with that being said, I still love my 4.10s. I'd have loved them alot more if they were free though! Do it! - you wont regret it!
