I got a set of 18x9 and 18x10 Deep Dish Bullitts for $300 on Craigslist for my 2005 V6 convertible. Then I bought a set of excellent front used Nitto 255/45/18 tires for $150. As I am looking at the cost of 285/40/18 rear tires, and looking at the deeper dish wheels for the back, I am having second thoughts.

The 18x10's look great on coupes, but not so much on the convertibles. What do you guys think? Wondering if I should:

1) Sell all these and get some newer OEM 18" wheels and tires (used);

2) Sell the 18x10’s and put 18x9's all the way around;

3) Buy some 295/45/18’s for the rear and make them fat and deep (the 285/40/18's seem a little ricy)

Cost is an issue! I really wanted to stay below $800 for everything. Thoughts?

It seems like you are well on your way to a great set-up at a great price, it will probably cost more if you start over.

Why do you say the deep dish bullitts don't look as good on verts as on coupes?

The only downside that I know of to the deep dish bullitts is they sit way out in the wheel well, which looks great because they really fill out the wheelwell, but the throw a lot of crud up onto the side of the car.

For the real tire width and aspect ratio, you want to try to stay to the standard overall diameter of about 27 inches, that is why they use 275/40's . . . if you change the overall diameter it is no big deal, you just have to recalibrate the speedometer if you want it to be accurate.

You know, I think it is just the deeper dish in the back. When combined with a low profile tire, it looks less muscle car and more "modern, Japanese." The 295/45/18 makes it fatter and bigger, but not sure the tire size difference between back and front will look better or worse than the above problem. That's why I think about using 18x10 Deep Dish all the way around.
