I have a 91 GT and the ignition switch went out on it, so I bought a replacement for it. I change it out in about 5 or 6 mins with no problems, untill I pluged the battery back in. I went to start the ignition not knowing that I had installed the ignition at ACC instead of the off position.....so I go to start the engine and i see a spark fly from the key cylinder, I try to hurry up and unplug to he ignition switch but i couldn't so I jump out and try to unplug the battery but it was to late. I saw smoke coming from under the hood and the dash then heard a faint pop. So i remove the ignition switch and it was toast. So I go to parts store and pick up another switch no big deal only about 11 bucks and install it correctly this time....and i got nothing. No warning lights, cant roll my windows, no stereo, no ac.....no nothing. I checked all the fuses and they are all good. I took everything apart trying to find some relays but everything apears to be good. Its almost like the batt is dead but its not, my headlights, and interior lights work so i dont know.I am almost to the point of taking the dash out and taking the wiring harness apart.....I dont know what to do.....can anyone please help? Thank you for your time and help in advance.:?:

Sounds like a fusible link to me. There are some located right off of the starter solenoid if I remember correctly, I would start there, they are the easiest ones to check.

Here is a diagram of some fusible links and where they are in the system:

yup you popped a fuseable link its no big deal and they are easy to replace. as said above they are located on the drivers side fender by the stater solenoid and i believe there is one behind the motor on the firewall good luck
Aaaah... you got the magic smoke....

I believe what you need is a magic smoke collector to collect the smoke and put it back in the component it came from...:D

On a more serious note, check your fusible links.
yea thats what i was figuring but i am having trouble finding them....i guess i gotta tear apart the dash then....my worst fear cpme to life
the fusible links are on the solenoid they look like a fuse holder that opens but they dont check power on both sides sure to be one of those there arent any inside the car for that besides the fuse box which doesnt concern starting the car just follow the positive cable from the battery to the solenoid and there all right there
