I want to get Sirius, but I really don't like the idea of putting the antenna on the roof. Has any1 put it out of sight and still gotten great signal strength?

Get the lower profile and place it slightly forward of rear spoiler w/ wiring through brake light . .

Look at my gallery photos (with older higher-profile antenna)

Do you have any trouble with the signal on the trunk? Did you try putting it inside the trunk?

No, no problems.

I don't know about "in" the trunk, as the metal sides would impede signal reception, at the very least.

For 2 different cars, I put the antenna on top of the dashboard using velcro and ran the wires underneath. This worked great for me. The key for Sirius is how close you live from Minnesota. Their satellite is up above there, so if you live down south, the dash mount may not work as well. Also, for the antenna, you need a direct line of sight, so inside the trunk will not work, unless you keep the trunk open.:nogrinner

I have XM and I mounted the antenna on the rear deck between the speakers. I held it in place with a piece of velcro (you only need the "hook" side since it will grab the material covering the rear deck). Mount it near the back so that it has maximum view of the sky.

We have Sirius in our minivan. (Which by the way has much less orange peel then my 05 GT). We live on the Alabama gulf coast and we dont have any problems with reception. We back pretty far into the carport before it cuts off. Its an older model Sirius and is mounted on the back. We got it in Virginia and havnt noticed any difference in recepetion since moving here.
I want it for my car too. When you get Sirius you must listen to channel 27. Best easy listening.
While waxing my wheels yet again (The Pony commads me! :worship )
I found a big nail in my rear passanger Pirelli. A quick squirt of wheel cleaner and sure enough, a slow Psssss.... The dealer i bought it from will be "busy" for the rest of the week.

To those who have it on the end of the trunk: How do you get the wire to run inside the trunk? When I open the trunk it has a rubber seal all around the edges. Do you just slip it in between the rubber and the deck lid?

Also, if any1 has any links on how to run a seemless setup with the wires(ie how to run the wires under and in the car so no wires are sticking out, without having to take apart half the interior), please let me know. Thanks a bunch!

On 99+, unhook the brake light, and run the wires using the same route

tw0scoops... check out this thread:

http://allfordmustangs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37562

I've been keeping track of the various sirius/xm threads running around & that thread is the only example that I've seen where someone put it inside the car. Where I live in AK, reception is a bit sketchy as it is, so probably on the rear decklid for me.

Oh, Sirius has 3 satelites total which are not in geosnych orbit. They are getting ready to launch a 4th & are prepping a 5th. Since the satelites move about the sky, reception will vary from hour to hour (at least it does for me). Certain bends in the road will be fine between some hours & not fine others... and the times of day shift through-out the month. Better than the 3-4 local FM stations tho.

Actually, the Sirius satellites are in highly ellipitical orbits that appear to follow a sort-of figure-eight shape. See:

My Sirius antenna is mounted just above the trunk lid, which works fine on my convertible. I'm not sure if it would work as well on a coupe.

I'm assuming none of you guys found some kinda AUX adapter yet? I don't think I'm going to settle for any FM modulation. Don't like fiddling with the radio stations while I'm driving. I live in Jersey and since it's highly populated, I'm sure I will get a lot of interference with our strong radio stations.
