the tip diameter is slightly larger than stock. I wouldn't count on noticing any gain in tq or hp though. Yes, they're lighter. about 50% lighter I'd guess, but haven't weighed 'em!

I heard the SLP Loudmouths on a 2005 GT and it sounded really bad. Some guy had his GT up at one of our local car shows and he started it up and revved it and I was not impressed. It did not due the GT any sound justice. It reminded be of a beat up clunker car driving down the road. Sorry to inform you of this if you had yourself set on SLP Loudmouths.

I did hear the Mac Performance axleback exhaust and I couldn't believe my ears. I asked what else was done to the car, like maybe a x-pipe or something, but nothing else was done, just the exhaust. It was the ultimate exhaust sound I have ever heard on a Mustang GT. I just ordered myself a set of Mac's today.
To each his own Baginoman... I personally love the SLPs. I heard a set of Macs first on an 05 and liked them, and I've heard countless 90's to 04's with Flowmasters. I was going to get the MACs, but then a local shop I heard the SLPs start up. Changed my mind immediately.

My only advice to you is to listen to clips before/after etc. If you think you like the sound of any particular axle-back, then get it, but hang on to your stock.

If you go with a popular brand like SLP, MAC, JBA, Borla, FordRacing, then they'll be an easy sell if you change your mind after a week or two.

You just cannot ask people for their opinion on this stuff, as everyone has their own preferences. It's your car.

Good luck,

Slp loudmouth Love em 2005 mustang GT

I just got my SLP loudmouths today from American muscle and installed them today my self with a buddy. I work on cars as a hobby and i was amazed at the time it took to install these we installed these within 20 min. The stock exhaust come's out and the SLP's go in with perfect fit. Right after install i start the engine and immediately I was [email protected] shocked at how amazeing they sound. I have a 2005 mustang gt and honestly I would glady pay double the price for these. My freind also has a mustang gt 2005 with flowmasters 40 series and there is no comparason in the thoattyness loudness, and over all excellence of the SLP's. The stock exhaust was comparable heavier than these. Id say the stock ones are 2.5 times heavier than the SLP's. I installed them at around 4:00 in the afternoon and i drove to the store to pick up some cig's at the gas station and i ended up arriveing at the gas station at 5:00 i just couldnt stop drivieng the car, waste of gas yes, but it sounded too sick i just couldnt stop the car. once at the gas station about 4 people were outside and immediately when i step out the car they complimented my car and sound, after the gas station we went to go eat at the restraunt another 3 pepople who were outside compliment my car, after were done eating and i start up my car another 2 people compliment my car. Within a span of 3 hours after i got it installed already 9 people compliment my car, And i live in LA and people are used to seeing nice cars, i am throughly impressed and very glad with these exhaust. Id say you get the SLP's, You will not regret it.

Just had SLP's put on yesterday. Absolutely unbelievable sound. To be honest tho I don't have anything to compare them to, they came highly recommended here and from the shop (speed inc.) I went to. I was advised however only go with SLP if you don't plan to add headers or an O/R pipe. Otherwise they are too loud.

This exhaust is loud through 1st and second gear so if you don't plan on headers or anything you may be very satisfied. If you do plan on headers or an O/R pipe do some research before deciding.
Next up is a tune. I have an automatic and I'd like to be able to burn rubber easily in first and chirp second and third. I'm completely open to suggestions.
