How low do you want to go?
Are you changing out shocks and struts as well?
Are you changing out shocks and struts as well?
My car has the Brembo package and I love the way it rides but it looks like it has air shocks on the back. I want to get the rear down more than anything else.easy.
if you can afford it go for the full set with shocks/dampers/lowering springs. Like Eibach pro kit with dampers. The kit comes with lowering springs too. Very good quality and optimum lowering. All you have to do is add an adjustable panhard bar to make sure your rear is aligned and take car for overall alignment according to the new geometry. Thats it.
So option 1.
Eibach Pro lowering kit with dampers
Adjustable panhard bar (BMR, Steeda whatever they are all same quality but choose the one with rubber rod ends for drive comfort)
Option 2
Just go for Eibach pro lowering springs and use them with your stock shocks dampers. (ride might be a little rough but still much better than stock).
Dont forget the panhard bar.
If you lower the car without the adjustable panhard bar, your tail would be sticking out sideways.
I know many people will argue now to choose the FRPP dampers, or Eibach or Bilstein or whatever.. remember it all depends on your budget and how much adjustatability you want. You can easily spend 2Gs and get fully adjustable suspension. But do you really need that?
Try going to brembo50.com. You can get 55d springs that even out the back with the front. Worked out for me and easy to do.My car has the Brembo package and I love the way it rides but it looks like it has air shocks on the back. I want to get the rear down more than anything else.
+1 on this. I am planning on doing the same along with an adjustable panhard to get the rear axle alignment perfect. It already sticks out further on the left.Try going to brembo50.com. You can get 55d springs that even out the back with the front. Worked out for me and easy to do.
Google 55d springs. I know couple of people here have used ones are selling for $50-$70. New I think they a $169???Possibly a dumb question but I will try anyway, I am really only interested in lowering the back, just leveling it out a little. any suggestions?
Just do the less aggressive Ford springs on the rear.Possibly a dumb question but I will try anyway, I am really only interested in lowering the back, just leveling it out a little. any suggestions?
Do you have a side pic of your car??I have the ford p springs and panhard bar. My car is a 2013 track pack. I love the way the car looks. 1" drop all around. The back is pretty damn good. The front is little too soft . I did not change my shocks so that is the reason. I also have good amount of bump steer. I did not get the car aligned so maybe that is the reason. But I dout it. My next purchase is tokico strut/shock pack and gt500 mounts plus steeds bump steer.
Thanks for the info. I am looking for a stiff ride. As stiff as the factory ride or more. What rate would you recommend?Your question has been answered very well, so there really is not much more to add in my opinion.
For the negative camber that will become present from lowering, IF you want to correct it (a lot of my customers prefer the negative camber) then you will need to choose between camber bolts, which are a common route due to price, or camber plates.
Adjustable panhard bar is absolutely necessary.
If you want to upgrade the shocks/struts, which I highly recommend, take a look at the Koni STR.T package, as it is probably the best performing non-adjustable shock/strut combo on the market, especially considering how cost-effective it is. If you want adjustable, the Koni Yellow Sports are my top pick, followed by the Tokico D-Specs.
Springs: This is where it can get pretty complicated due to the amount of offerings on the market. If you are not overly concerned with increased handling capability, you will want to pick a spring which has a rear rate of up to 170lbs and a front spring with a rear rate of up to 180lbs.....any offerings that are higher than that, will be strictly a lower/handling spring and typically they will not provide a very comfortable ride. Comfort is in the eye of the beholder, so I am just giving you my personal opinion, with feedback from thousands of BMR customers.
Have fun modding, and please let me know if you have any questions about BMR Suspension pieces.
