Squeaky Steering

I have 2005 V6 Convertible with a squeaky steering wheel. It sounds like it needs some greasing/lubrication down the steering column. Is this something I can tackle myself? Or should I take it in to the dealer/repair shop. I've owned my mustang for about 8 months.
