Mustang SFI Approved Underdrive Pulley Kit (05-10 GT) at AmericanMuscle - Free Shipping!

About to order these and likely install them Next Weekend, has anyone else had any experience with them? The installation guide seems pretty straight forward and it shouldn't be that big of a deal with an array of tools at my disposal. (Begins installation with confidence...3 Hours later...... :banghead:)
Underdrive pulley's are definitely a really cool mod. They will lighten up the rotating mass on your engine, leading to some awesome power and acceleration gains! These SR performance pulleys are made from lightweight aluminum for durability and performance. Made using precise, state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing, you can count on these pulleys to perform at the highest level.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Keep in mind we do offer price matching. If you find an item cheaper elsewhere, just let us know and we'll gladly match it!

Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

The toughest part of this job is getting the crank bolt out. If your car is an automatic you may need to use an impact wrench . . . with a regular breaker bar, three hours later you might still be turning the engine.

The second toughest part is torquing down the new crank bolt. Be prepared with a big wrench . . .

If I remember correctly it is an 18mm nut, which is kind of an odd size, missing from many standard rachet/socket kits.

A new crank bolt is recommended (but not required?) because they are "torque to yield" -- meaning once the bolt has been installed it has been yielded so it really should not be used again. (yeah, it takes a lot of torque to yield that sucker) I have the Ford part number at home somewhere if you need it.

I think I would spring for the Mezeire Electric water pump over the underdrive pullies.

yeah good point, definitely worth a look before you decide -- I think they cost a little more, but return a little more improvement too

I think there used to be bearing issues early on. I think it's been resolved. That follow-up is on the potential buyers though. All I know is you don't want to hook it up to the alternator. Several people had issues with the pump hooked up in a bad way. I PM'd a guy that has had one for a long while and he hasn't had an issue. Infact , it saved his car from overheating twice when he chucked a belt. I wouldn't mind having one, but I believe I would want to buy Sqidd's alternator with it.

Fail Light

Does the Electric Water Pump have a fail light or warning indicator?
I'm sure if not that a report to a simple LED could be installed.
That way you know if need to be shut down before any damage takes place.

Bbk

I have the BBK, these are similar to this model and were not availble at that time.
Seems like a good price. The Ford Bolt is F5RZ6A340B and can be bought at Brenspeed for 17 bucks.

The HP was not my intent just get the motor spinning nice and get into the power ban a little quicker. I got 8HP from a Dyno run.
Just runs smoother and complimented the other MODS I have completed. No big sound system or other crap to worry about frying the alternator. Anyway with the Cams Off Road H-Pipe and Mac mufflers that's my idea of a Mustang Sound System. LOL

I will admit a set of M80's will be going in to calm it down.

That's a good idea.
It can and has been done that way. I believe either Travelers or Redruder has there's setup that way.

The only "real" pita you will encounter is removing the crank pulley. Without the correct gear puller it will be a challenge.

If you have an automatic trans, you can use a strap wrench to hold the crank pulley while you remove the bolt and reinstall it.
Puller

The stock Crank Pulley will use a Chrysler style puller you can rent it from Autozone. It is very similar to the 318 crank pulley.
