I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should go with an exedy mach 350, or a mach 400. I talked with a guy at exedy and he convinced me that the stage 1 is essentially a replacement OE part, and that the stage 2 would be better for my car, and that the hp ratings on americanmuscle were wrong. I called Tremec and asked what they recommended for a T45 and he said that a stage 1 should be fine. I currently have a stage 2, not sure what brand, and its fine, but I'm not sure if its worth the money to buy another stage 2, especially if its overkill...I have about 350hp

thanks

Stage 1 and Stage 2 will work on your car. With your current power level, a Stage 1 will do just fine! However, I don't think that a Stage 2 will be over kill... If you have intentions of further modding your car and making more power, then I would recommend going with a Stage 2 to be safe!

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266.

b_yosh,

You'll be able to get away with a Stage 1, but I suggest a Stage 2 with the power levels you're at. That way you have room to grow and don't have to worry about strength.

That being said, any reason you're replacing the current stage 2 clutch?

hey thanks, I don't have any future power mods in mind just yet, none that I can afford anyway haha...I have a bad throwout bearing and I was just going to replace the whole kit anyway. Also, are the horsepower ratings for those clutches on your site accurate, an exedy associate told me otherwise...?

I do believe the specs are accurate. However, I did find one mistake on the Mach 500 clutch, only under 11-14 Mustangs. So, I'm having my Drivetrain guy give Exedy a call to double check all of the specs. If anything is off, we'll update the site immediately! Although, as I mentioned, I do believe the Stage 1 and 2 specs are right on.

Which flywheel are you currently using? If it's stock, then you'll need to have it resurfaced. If you're using an aftermarket with fiction plates, you'll need new plates.

I agree with the above, the 500 would be a safer bet and still has reasonable pedal effort. You should definitely resurface the flywheel at the least, personally I think its a great time to upgrade to an aluminum one, I was really glad when I did that. Spins up faster, better response and none of the drawbacks some have described. You can search in here on it, there was a thread maybe 3 years ago where we discussed the pluses and minuses in detail.
